Slate Reservations Pre-Order Tracking List & Stats 📊

Maybe double check data. CA #12 behind HI, NH, RI?

Per capita, based only on people who registered here and submitted their stats. So 864 out of somewhere over 160k reservations. Split among 50 states, the numbers can get squirrelly. That's only averaging about 17 per state, if you told 5 people in your state to come here and enter the info, that alone would skew the data visibly.

51 are Washington, 134 California, 5 each Hawaii, NH, 4 RI, only 1 in Wyoming, and it's only 2/3rd of the way down the list. if they had a friend who also reserved enter their data, they would be right up there with RI, 2 friends and they'd be in 2nd place.

Need a sample a couple of times bigger to be able to break down to states per capita meaningfully, and it would still be self selected.

Yeah, im under no delusions that the chart is totally accurate. Just a fun thing to check out that I wanted to share.

that being said, you can assume that there is some correlation between the number of people on the forum and the number of people who pre-ordered in each state, so I think there can be some information gained.

but as you said, this is probably more indicative of forum use per state and not so much pre-orders per state. Id love to see the actual numbers from slate themselves.

Not questioning accuracy as much as presentation. To be honest had to take 3 stat courses for 3 degrees and never got an A.

While the per capita math is interesting, it heavily skews the results in favor of smaller states like HI, NH, and RI. Because their populations are so tiny, it only takes a couple of forum sign-ups to launch them to the top. Conversely, it buries a massive volume leader like California simply because of its population size.
A truer map of actual demand would show raw sign-up totals by state. That would show us where the largest clusters of buyers actually live and where the trucks will actually ship!

Around 185 people have reserved for every 1 in that data. Each 1 in that data is somewhere around 18 train cars depending on the car type. So even Wyoming or other states with 1 showing likely has plenty of reservations to make multiple loads. It depends on how they decide to prioritize.
If one of those Wyoming reservations was a day 1 hour 1 minute 1 reservation, do they go ahead and fill enough orders for a load to there the first week, or do they delay and match that early one with later reservations? Basically do they ship based on the first or last reservation for that load?

That seems like an astonishingly good dataset!

I'd wager that no one but Slate themselves have more or better data, and even then, Slate merely has the reservation date, address, and $50. They don't have body style, wrap, first EV, vehicles owned, battery preference, and so on.

Slate representatives have said the Maker has been a great source of insight into their target market's interests. Tisha Johnson mentioned wrap colors in a recent podcast:

Exactly. Probably many more people who've reserved have set up their builds in the maker than have joined this forum. So you've got to think they have some pretty good data on what people want in body styles, wraps, batteries, and all the accessories.
It's probably a small percentage that haven't touched the maker, and another larger but still small fraction that have made a bunch of builds or added "Everything" that they can filter out. Those who've returned to the maker over time, refining their builds can be taken even more seriously. Slate can tie all that data on likely to convert customers to zip code and plan out fulfillment of both trucks and accessories.
