No, no it is not. You only need a data plan if you plan to stream from a phone/tablet. Phones can store music, audiobooks, podcasts locally and play back without data. For radio there are a lot of portable options that will play to BT. ....

They should have at least one truck at the factory dedicated to rides/drives. Stay on the factory grounds and run a reservation schedule as close to 24/7 as possible. Think Ferrari's Fiorano facility :D Id be far more likely to plan a longer mileage mini vacation trip to a confirmed ride&drive...

Look for a local MakerSpace . They usually have 3d printers, laser cutters cnc etc. They can likely connect you to a member who can either make them for you or teach you to use their equipment. NICE! The nearest one on the list (Boston) is a 5+ hour drive one way..... They should have to have one in each part of the country where they have orders so that each location is less than 205 mi. from the customer, just on principal

Being a New Englander I get 90+ (more and more regularly) ambient summer temps and -10 on more than a few stretches each winter. Inside car temps not known .. the $80 tablet has never failed or gone into thermal shutdown. I do turn it off before stowing it. Just my experience and 2¢
