Of course. I'm not negating the reverse. I'm a huge Amazon Business buyer.
But this is usually because the vendors have explicitly chosen to leverage Amazon as primary marketplace, for fairly obvious reasons; no one does ecommerce quite like AMZ. The point is that Coverlay has likely priced...
true.
buuuuut... also counterbalanced against the possiblity of 3rd party accessories which may be more interesting, and historically, less expensive; so there's that.
argh, there's soooooo much we don't know...
with 100amps available in the same space, I'd think using two physical EVSE would be more flexible, both for location and give you redundancy. It'd even likely be cheaper (at least beyond initial modest cost of an add'l short wire run). That's how I'd go. I have a 60a subpanel in my garage, and...
fwiw, Amazon logistics and fulfillment for 3rd parties has substantial cost (ie, "Amazons cut").
It's possible that accessories have not been priced with this in mind (IMO), and would/could lead to price increase. Maybe the smaller, lighter items (plastics, t rails) which clearly already have...
The only thing I really want is someplace to rest my right elbow.
Buuuuut.... I really don't even want the factory console design. I really want something mounted to the bulkhead (is that the right term?) that can flip up and out of the way. In other words, a hinged or pivoting armreset.
As to...
Im just as likely to yell you off my lawn as the next slateforum member, and I also had to work barefoot, earning 12 cents/hour as a teen for the privilege of owning my first car, with its manual choke and leaded gas glory.
I wanted just as much to provide a simple and character building auto...
Fwiw, some "plug in" EVSE (aka, "portable") instruct you to cut and strip the plug for hard wire use.
So, basically saying cost isnt a direct correlation.
Also... hardwiring a unit of that type makes the connection somewhat cheaper and safer, yes you give up portability, but Id prefer to keep...
There was strong evidence provided yesterday (I think) that the included EVSE does support 16a draw in L1 mode. So I don't know about headroom for garage motor startup. But I am dearly hoping the the mystery charge setting of the car will allow for granular settings, even for L1.

Difference of opinions.
I see no world in which shop owners want to be in the delivery business. Signing up to do warranty repairs or equipment installs is one thing; being the physical face to turn the keys over, for the first time, to a buyer spending 30-40k is something quite different.
I'll...
Very solid list.
But you've missed some of my favorite:
-will demand be so high, so I can flip it in 6 mos for a profit
-will Slate give me 0% lease, cuz they should, how else will they sell?
We dont even know for certain exactly how repair pal installed accessories on a new Slate will work.
Based on lack of info, it seems like neither factory or shops know, either.
Thats putting aside reality that likely only a modest % of new deliveries will have RP installed options. RP shops...
