Also, speaking of 256-megabyte memory, we didn't get to use it all: the requirement was to have at least 30% margin on launch so that means we can use only up to 70% of 256 MB ram and to leave the rest as backup (mapping around bad memory during cruise, flight software update etc...)

When they worked with "unlimited memory", I doubt 'optimization' is even on their lowest priority list 🙂
