At the Portland event, I approached a group of people waiting for the test drive and asked “so, are you Slate enthusiasts?” They looked at me like I was crazy. After a confused silence one guy said they wandered up for a test drive. I was clearly the only forum member there at that moment.

It's simple. If they want to satisfy the forum, they just need to show us the truck hitting a ramp at highway speed and jumping over a ravine. Bonus points if there's a helicopter hovering in that ravine.

Just realizing: how are the doors unlocked? You can use a physical metal key, which I suspect is embedded in the fob and not easy to access. For most daily usage is it pushing the unlock button on the fob to get in? Touching the door handle with the fob in your pocket probably won’t be enough.

Nice work, OP. Anyone have a good reason why the keyfob needs to be inserted into the dash? Is it just cost savings? I'm suddenly realizing that I can lock my keys in the car again rather than always have them clipped to my belt.

My challenge: ride for a bit with the doors off and the rear wall/window removed.

I sat in the slate truck for the Portland ride along. They opened the dash and I saw two usb-c ports in addition to the 12v cigarette lighter outlet. they said the interior wasn’t final, so I don’t know if this will change.
