    Seattle Space Needle event

First photos from the event. More to come when I get home. First impression, it feels way more solid to sit in than I was expecting. It didn’t give the impression kf being cheap at all.

Munro Live: Beta Factory Hoist Review of Slate Battery, Motor, Suspension, Underbody, Frunk, Body, Electrical System, Software, Safety & More

That was my immediate reaction as well. Do we know who the first employee / founder is?

Event Tour Locations & Dates are back up! Multiple dates for Detroit, 2 days for Warsaw and 4 dates for Cleveland, OH

With 8000 cars, how much time is anyone spending at any one booth? I'm looking forward to the Seattle event next week. If it were at a car show, with an entrance fee, and thousands of people milling about, I wouldn't bother. Considering I'd only be interested in seeing 1/8000th of the show.

How about $0 down 0% interest?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you still have to pay the auto loan interest. The deduction is so that you're not paying income tax on the interest amount. It's just a reduction of your taxable income. In reality, this is only a savings of 20 - 30% of the interest, depending on your tax bracket.

Slate not likely to be a top safety pick by Consumer Reports (due to lack of BSW)

It's a small single cab pickup. I can't imagine there's much of a blind spot anywhere around this vehicle. Until you add the SUV kit anyway. That said, I DO want everyone else on the road to have blind spot warning because the situational awareness of most drivers is abysmal.

DIY vs OFT (Open For Theft)

If someone does have a panel stolen, I'm sure there will be DIY videos on sculpting a new one out of cardboard and duct tape.

July 5th Detroit Event Photos of factory gray Slate pickup

I kind of like that there is no carpet. What is it about auto carpet that acts like velcro for every bit of debris you track in? It never vacuums cleanly.

Weird message at the end of last name

If I had to guess, the "AWD confirmed for v2" one probably slipped through accidentally, since they're being very cagey with that info everywhere else.

Weird message at the end of last name

If its not a full on black-listing, it sure seems like they want to be a bit more cautious with responses to you. I bet they don’t know that note is viewable on your account.

Received my gift in mail from Slate Auto - concept sketch

Yours is probably the one with the Free Slate golden ticket inside. Too bad!

    Technical info / Detailed drawings

They've stated that they will be releasing CAD drawings and detailed specs like load ratings for the various mounting points. There's a bunch of pre-drilled/tapped/etc points around the vehicle that they refer to as "Slate Access Points" or SAPs that they will use for their own add ons, but are...

Aftermarket for Slate - will there be a lot of parts / accessories?

Slate has said they're using a lot of off-the-shelf components already, which means it's probably really standardized stuff. I bet a lot of existing aftermarket parts could be made Slate-ready with simple bracket modifications or other minor tweaks.

Event Tour Locations & Dates are back up! Multiple dates for Detroit, 2 days for Warsaw and 4 dates for Cleveland, OH

So far, they seem to be "park a truck in a high-traffic public space and talk to people as they come over to see what's going on." While having a presence at a car show would be where "car people" are, I'm not sure that "car people" are their target market.

Your questions answered AND 360 photos! (saw white Slate & met team members in Warsaw)

My '16 CRV has a traditional key hole in the driver's door. I've never used it, not even once. Its presence on the Slate is probably just a backup in case the fob battery dies.

Received my gift in mail from Slate Auto - concept sketch

I used to work in a printshop, and actually own an 2000 pound antique 1800s letterpress, so this is the kind of thing I'm into. A bit of research landed me at Arbor Oakland, a full service print/mail shop in Royal Oak MI, where our Slate concept cards were mailed from. They have a pair of 1950s...

Received my gift in mail from Slate Auto - concept sketch

Got mine today, it's a nice print. Letterpress by the feel of it. I wonder if Slate had a local Detroit or Long Beach letterpress shop produce these? (*edit, just noticed they were mailed from Michigan, so that limits it down) I looked up the name on the artwork, Henri Kavaja. The guy has a...

    Ride quality- prediction poll

I do wonder how much sound dampening material is under the floor and in the doors. May be a good weekend project down the road to add some of those adhesive rubber mats the kids use when installing a thumpin' bass system.

More Slate pickup white wrap photos

That last photo. 😂 Theres something that makes me laugh about a bunch of big men standing around an open hood, and knowing it's just an empty frunk. I'm not normally a fan of white cars, but it does look really sharp. The pearl finish makes it glow.

Rich Rebuilds video review from Slate Truck design, engineering, production labs!

I also just got to the segment where the guy says the driver's door armrest is the same part as the passenger door armrest. Then the kicker that it's ALSO the center console armrest part. This thing is so smartly designed.

Why is Slate relevant vs. legacy automaker offerings?

Someone recently mentioned that Slate has a few ex-Harley Davidson people on board, and I think that's a good point of comparison. Harley owners are swimming in 3rd party aftermarket part and customization options, and they have only strengthened people's connection to the brand.
