  1. Need FM Radio

I'm just a couple hours up the road and my phone is in overheat mode the entire drive home! Pros and cons I suppose....
  2. Need FM Radio

Oh how nice it would be to not live somewhere hot
  3. Need FM Radio

Are you saying direct phone to speakers? That would make sense I guess. I’m used to (and maybe prefer?) phone to infotainment to speakers, but yeah your solution does work in that situation!
  4. Need FM Radio

If the speakers are powered by the car, why not hardwire them for audio too? A plugged in Bluetooth connected speaker seems the worst of both worlds… I’m a tech savvy guy, seemingly about 30+ years younger than the average user here, but Bluetooth will never be as no-fuss as hardwired speakers.
  5. Place Your Bets! (actual blank Slate starting price contest)

That’d be interesting to see that, if you see the video please let me know! I highly doubt pouches are being installed directly into the entire pack without first being installed as mods, but always want to learn more
  6. Munro Live: Beta Factory Hoist Review of Slate Battery, Motor, Suspension, Underbody, Frunk, Body, Electrical System, Software, Safety & More

Is GM (Ultium) sourcing any lithium domestically? I know they’re investing in Thacker pass, but no lithium is coming out of that yet
  7. Article: Slate Auto CEO Chris Barman tells us how exactly it’s making a $25,000 EV

Wiped out the moment you install door speakers. Will the locks not be electric? How often are we taking the doors off a Slate?
  8. Air Suspension, Carplay, onboard cooler, double din radio, climate control, wi-fi, hands free liftgate, self driving, waffle maker...

It’s just someone being obtuse. “Every other driver sucks, but not me” runs rampant here
  9. Event Tour Locations & Dates are back up! Multiple dates for Detroit, 2 days for Warsaw and 4 dates for Cleveland, OH

Before the big announcement, yeah it was guerrilla marketing. Right now? It’s very conventional and boring
  10. Article: Slate trucks will cost less than an average used car, even without tax credits

Hmm, never considered this! Im a day 1 rez, maybe I can use the Slate as my "trial" EV, realize I want a radio, and make a profit!
  11. Article: Slate Auto CEO Chris Barman tells us how exactly it’s making a $25,000 EV

I think it's okay to be skeptical. An echo chamber of positivity doesn't do much good for a car that won't see the public for at least a year. We know Slate is looking at online sources, maybe a head honcho will get a whiff of what the public is thinking. I have a reservation in, but I'm not...
  12. Place Your Bets! (actual blank Slate starting price contest)

This was a fun little thought experiment for me. Slate has confirmed it won't be offered, but I just wanted to think about it. First of all, I think the regulations and/or liability would be a nightmare, but I don't know much about that, so I can't comment on it. What I do have a fair bit of...
  13. Article: Slate trucks will cost less than an average used car, even without tax credits

Well those 100k aren’t all going to buy a Slate, that’s a guarantee. I’m sure a large chunk of reservations are people curious and optimistic they can pull it off. Also, they can’t buy a Slate today, so maybe they aren’t looking today! My car will be pushing 200k when the Slate comes out, so...
  14. Article: Slate trucks will cost less than an average used car, even without tax credits

This rhetoric is repeated often here, but a key detail is…. For you. There are plenty of consumers who will compare a Slate and Maverick side by side for their needs. I would argue that most people looking to buy cars are not strictly EV or strictly ICE buyers. Most have some level of...
  15. Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

I’m of the opinion that they went one step TOO bare bones. No hard wired speakers/radio is going to be a big turn away. i guess the market and sales numbers will decide in a few years!
  16. Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

There are sub 30k EV options. At 35k it gets interesting. At 40k, plenty. We went from “I’m okay with bare bones for 20k” to “$30k is good with me” in two months
  17. Need FM Radio

Bluetooth is great for speakers. It’s portable, relatively easy to use, can connect to multiple devices. But it’s such a no-go in a car. Needs to be charged, connect every time, easily interfered with. Hardwired speakers are the only permanent solution in any car
  18. Munro Live: Beta Factory Hoist Review of Slate Battery, Motor, Suspension, Underbody, Frunk, Body, Electrical System, Software, Safety & More

I think you’re overestimating how expensive the “styling” (plastic) up front is
