Slate will manufacture its seats in house at Warsaw factory

You are correct, but the discussion was concerning the ā€˜front middle passenger’ if a bench seat was available In the front row.

Article: Slate Auto CEO Chris Barman tells us how exactly it’s making a $25,000 EV

For those adventurous types who enjoy the thrill of a doorless driving experience, it's important to note that most states require side view mirrors in order to drive on public roads. I can totally envision a mod kit to install mirrors to the windshield pillar or exposed door hinges so that the...

    Need FM Radio

100% agree. Needing to charge your speakers like every week is a chore I’m not looking forward to. Music should be a seamless experience with no periodic maintenance. Nothing is more annoying than your Bluetooth speakers putting out that awful tone warning you that the battery is low. I...

Article: Slate Auto CEO Chris Barman tells us how exactly it’s making a $25,000 EV

Not to throw more gasoline on the fire (pun intended) but I find it interesting that we can all 2nd and 3rd guess Slate's design decisions while we are only spectators. Did anyone notice Sandy's reaction to Cap EX (at the end of the Munroe video) where he pretends to gag himself? I've worked...

More Slate pickup white wrap photos

In all the media, photos and videos out there for the dashboard, none of them show that the LH panel opens for storage. If it did, it would certainly be highlighted. Also note there are control buttons below so most likely that space is already spoken for.

Let’s hope that JJE pays more attention to building quality parts than their spelling šŸ¤”. Chinese company so I’ll give them a free pass.

Munro Live: Beta Factory Hoist Review of Slate Battery, Motor, Suspension, Underbody, Frunk, Body, Electrical System, Software, Safety & More

Excellent point, except that the original $20k price target caught the headlines in a big way, and helped them to achieve the 100k+ reservations. Other car companies (eg Tesla) also play the ā€˜numbers game’ with rebates and credits baked in the quoted price. To your point ā€œcan this EV startup...

Munro Live: Beta Factory Hoist Review of Slate Battery, Motor, Suspension, Underbody, Frunk, Body, Electrical System, Software, Safety & More

They mentioned e-coating, also known as Electrocoating where charged particles are deposited on the surface after dipped into tanks. The finish protects metals and steels from corroding and requires no traditional paint.

Munro Live: Beta Factory Hoist Review of Slate Battery, Motor, Suspension, Underbody, Frunk, Body, Electrical System, Software, Safety & More

Munro Live does a phenomenal job with their close-up video footage. There's a lot to learn here! I think this video should find its way into Slate University as an introductory overview before digging into any suspension mods, lift kits, tire swaps, etc. Really appreciate the "hoist review"...

Adding a screen for AA/Carplay is WAY cheaper than I thought it would be

I like this head unit and think it's a great fit for the Slate....until I saw the price at $452. I think I'll wait for a sale at Best Buy.

Slate not likely to be a top safety pick by Consumer Reports (due to lack of BSW)

Those of us who drive during rush hour and deal with aggressive drivers on a daily basis definitely appreciate BSW. What I particularly like is that the rear facing radar judges the speed of the vehicles behind you and generates audible and visual warnings. It's saved me quite a few times and...

Adding a screen for AA/Carplay is WAY cheaper than I thought it would be

Wondering if that screen would fit in a modified tablet mount that’s offered as a Slate option. That would be a nice aftermarket accessory.

Production Date Poll: When will Slate Truck production begin?

In some respects, we will ALL become beta testers the day we take delivery. I think I'm fine with that since this isn't my only vehicle. Even Slate sees its target audience as the second vehicle in the household. But until the whole 'service center thing' rolls out, I remain skeptical that...

Production Date Poll: When will Slate Truck production begin?

In order for Slate to claim it met its delivery goal, they MUST deliver at least the first few vehicles in late 2026. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I don't want the first vehicle off the line. So technically production 'begins' late next year, although most would call it limited rate initial...

Slate not likely to be a top safety pick by Consumer Reports (due to lack of BSW)

While I am not a fan of Consumer Reports in general, I know many folks look to them for research before purchasing a new vehicle. According to a recent study, 82% of new car buyers consider Blind Spot Warning (BSW) an important feature to have on their next vehicle. Even though the Slate is...
