Early days, lots of things could happen.
Obviously I don't know what Slate's battery contract says, but what-if EV sales tank. The battery company says we're sitting on all this production capacity and not making money. Fire sale! Lithium pouches are now $45/kWh! Move them!
Slate says "we can...
Please let us know what you find out on Colorado rebate. I knew they had good rebates and briefly looked into it. It seemed like I had to have a job there, and high enough income to owe $7500 state taxes. Perhaps the situation has changed. I could see moving to CO, but working is out of the...
Brian,
Sorry to confuse you. SYNC is the infotainment system that Ford uses. It was a Microsoft product, I first encountered it in a 2014 Focus. The 1,2 etc is the version number.
I should probably go read the Wikipedia article on it. Maybe Microsoft transferred it to Ford? I think the...
I'm not sure what metric you are using for "efficiency gains", but most of my reading indicates that smaller tires are better. For example, Equinox EV offers 18" or 20" (22"?) wheels. I'm not sure on the larger size, since I wouldn't even consider them. Most frugal people say to get 18"...
To answer my own question:
https://www.donmar.com/sunroofs/SkyroofZ/SkyroofZ.htm
"Retail prices range from $650 to $795 when professionally installed."
(I didn't realize this was a generic, already available sunroof)
And to answer my question from the other thread:
tinted solar glass is...
I hope the sunroof is completely removable. (sorry, long held, low-level fear of driving into a lake... hand crank windows help, but still...) Also, some provision should be made for insect screens while parked and sunscreening.
And do you have the price on these yet?
Come on man, I asked...
If things continue as they are (tax credits), you might be better off buying the current blank Slate (RWD), and selling it to upgrade to AWD or 4WD Slate in the future.
Once your '26 hits two years old, it can be sold thru a dealer and get the $4000 used EV credit. Most of your customizations...
Yes, the counter guy at the parts store mentioned those. I remember trying to squeeze them down (longways) fighting to get them into slot. He didn't suggest they were still available. I'll have to check into that.
My '14 Ford Focus wipers lasted at least five years. Didn't seem quite right...
No, vacuums are un-natural.
Just a dash mounted lever with a direct connect to the wiper. I think the Cushman's at the state park ranger job had that.
And did I mention the Rambler that my sister had? Foot pedal to pump the WW fluid? Those were the days.
Hi Josh!
Lucky you! Getting to work for a small company and play around with the prototypes.
I bet it was done safely, but you had me worried going thru the doorway. :-)
In the 70's, I had a bean bag chair in my dorm room. I'm thinking that would be a good upgrade in the back of my Slate, compared to my scrawny butt sitting in the back of Dad's pickup in the 60's. (Chevy wood floor with metal strap hold downs.). Generally these were short trips, 3 miles to...
I saw a reference to JD Power consumer satisfaction, or maybe Consumer Reports surveys, recently. I think it was 60% of new vehicle faults were with infotainment. Maybe that included "just too complicated, customer doesn't understand how it works".
I finally got around to firmware update on my...
Good to see that Slate is adding and updating this. BUT, the Detroit one is in four days, still no location or time. Makes it hard to plan.
And, I chatted with them twice about this. They suggested I sign up for the email list, which I did the first weekend after launch. No updates about...
I'm curious about these specifics, too. (a nice day with a blank Slate, can I remove the back glass and cab back panel and drive off) Also details like fuse box location and expansion options. A picture of rear from underneath to see what a hitch install needs.
BUT, I wonder if it really is...
Recent events have me wondering what style of wiper blades will be used?
Successfully changed two blades out of three on someone's Subaru Impreza a few weeks ago. Turned into a ~90 minute effort to not replace the passenger side blade...
My first stop was at Costco (going there anyway). The...
I chatted with them about noon the 17th, sounded like the 23rd in Detroit isn't happening. (originally it said at Riverfront. But the festival they linked it to isn't happening this summer)
I was disappointed, but I can imagine they are somewhat busy. :-)
I suggested they park one out front...
I think you need to put a steel plate down in the middle of the bed. Then a post up so you clear the cab (unless you don't really like those guys). That gives you 360 degrees coverage.
I think we are inventing problems that don't exist.
My 2016 F150 has the front seat shown in Luxrage's picture. The lap belt bolts to the metal framework under the seat. The shoulder belt goes into the top of the seat, presumably down to something solid.
And I'm speculating on the airbag...
