The one thing I would like a solar panel for in an EV would be to power the Battery temperature management system to optimize battery health and longevity in sunny hot areas.
That's mainly just an example of gripes I have with it. Why should I have to swipe screen to my right, when I can easily just swipe the vent in front of me? It's just another part that can fail and extra cost and complexity that isn't needed.
From one of the interviews, it sounded like the numbers weren't final yet. When I compare it to other similar EVs that have similar motors and batteries, the numbers Slate gives are underestimated. This could be due to terrible aerodynamics or they just want to underpromise. Vinfast got into...
That one screen to rule them all is the biggest reason I never want a Tesla. I want the speedometer to be in front of me. Also, I don't want to have to go through menus to adjust things like the vents, why do those need motors anyway?
Biggest problem is that this could be a vulnerability and make it easier to steal. If it requires tapping a button on the screen rather than doing it automatically it could mitigate this.
I don't like comparing a truck with a tow package to one without tow. That tow rating on the Slate might not be final and could change when they test it before release.
