Expected price now "Mid-Twenties" for Slate truck

I don't think you can just say "besides being electric." For me and many others, that is one of the primary draws. Show me another compact electric pickup, let alone one at this suggested price, and I'm all ears! I've been wanting one for ages. If you just take away one of the biggest aspects...

Suspension Poll: Lifted, Lowered, or Standard Height?

Why: I wanna lower it cuz I think it looks cool. Tradeoff: Maybe marginally better efficiency, at the cost of having to duck more when I get in.

Production Date Poll: When will Slate Truck production begin?

I will be amazed if they have a production model truck rolling off the line by Dec 31 2026

How much day-to-day technology is enough?

Ah, I was thinking of battery preconditioning for optimal DCFC speeds. That aspect of it seems pretty doable

How much day-to-day technology is enough?

It seems relatively straight forward in my eyes. They've said the app will offer route planning as I recall. If in the app you route to a charger, it knows when it needs to begin preconditioning, right? No cellular is needed from the truck, that's all done through the phone.

Were you first drawn to the Slate itself or the headline price?

For me it's Utility, Looks, Price/Value, Minimalist Design & Customization. So...sort of everything! It's just about perfect for me. Keep It Stupid Simple. And affordable. And let me tinker with it and make it my own. Can't wait to get to see it in Olympia!

Suggestion: DIY Delivery Center @ Slate Plant in IN

Chevy used to offer this at the Bowling Green plant for Corvette's too. I believe you could "help" torque the heads on your motor, do a tour, and by the end, hop in and drive off with your Vette. Obviously for a price.

Is Slate the name of the truck or the name of the company building it?

I think it's similar to the Polestar 2, funnily enough. If you look at the registration for one of those cars, it says: Make: Polestar Model: Polestar 2 So it's technically the Polestar Polestar 2. Similarly, the Slate Truck could "technically" be the Slate Slate Truck when registered. Too...

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

I can see this little truck being a hit with old dudes. My grandpa drove an old Ranger forever. Seems like a great fit too, though I don't know how to market this little truck to old guys lol

Slate's Entire Marketing Campaign is Completely Wrong

I think its funny seeing people get all twisted up about the marketing strategies so far. I'll probably get some hate for this, but whatever. None of us need to be marketed to. They've already snagged over 100K reservations. At this point, they can try to drum up appeal and demand with other...

Poll: Slate's second model - what do you think it will be?

I'd love a Slate car. Keep it super simple and cheap, like the 90s Civics and Corollas. Decent efficiency and range. Would be a sweet commuter.

Weird message at the end of last name

Is this on the slate.auto website? My last name under "Your account" just says my last name.

Place Your Bets! (actual blank Slate starting price contest)

I don't think anything has changed, no? They've always said "under $20K with Federal EV incentive", which has always meant mid 20's without it.

Expected price now "Mid-Twenties" for Slate truck

If they can deliver on the mid 20s, I’m still in for sure. I’m hoping high 20s for the bigger battery.

Aftermarket for Slate - will there be a lot of parts / accessories?

I think you might be overestimating how many units need to sell to prop up an aftermarket community. There were less than 41,000 Pontiac GTOs made between 2004 and 2006, and there were (and still are) tons of aftermarket mods and parts for that car. Aftermarket companies will work to fill a...

    Robust electronics

"I'm tired of CA mandating that companies allow end users the ability to read diagnostic information from their own vehicle. Keep it proprietary and locked down, requiring people to go to a dealer to find out that their gas cap is loose on their ICE car."

New video in SUV mode w/ 4 adult passengers

It weighs less than a 5th/6th gen Camaro, and much less than my 2005 Silverado, which came with a scissor jack.

Event Tour Locations & Dates are back up! Multiple dates for Detroit, 2 days for Warsaw and 4 dates for Cleveland, OH

Nice, looks like they added Olympia WA back on the list too. Glad to see it's on a weekend. That's probably the one I'll go to

Backup Camera display screen in gauge cluster (in-action while reverse)

I'm not too worried about the quality or resolution. The truck is small enough with clear body lines that backing up should be a non issue, especially coming from a Z71 Silverado with a canopy. Backup cameras, while nice, are a tool and not a crutch imo.

It looks like SLATE has pathetic EV efficiency. (and a rant).

It’s a good frame of reference for someone coming from an ICEV too. More MPG is more better.
