I installed a slow open tailgate strut to my current daily a 2019 Ranger. Its a tiny mod but I enjoy the controlled opening of the tailgate. Anyhow I'd add a similar device to my Slate in a heart beat. Either factory or aftermarket. Slow Open Tailgate Video
