The Truck's load capacity is completely acceptable.
That said, I think a lot of people are expecting the Truck to be heavier-duty than it actually will be. That's why I created this thread.
Wow, learned something new. That's a very California way to do it.
In Arizona (and federally) GVWR (with an R) is used, not GVW.
In AZ even a 3/4-ton pickup isn't automatically commercial.
Passenger cars, ¾ ton or less pickup trucks and ¾ ton or less vans, used for commercial purposes 1,000...
Pickup load capacity: 1,433
Extended Battery: 302
SUV Kit 310
Tire Carrier + Wheel & Tire: ??? (well over 21)
Average Adult male ~200
Pickup with Extended Battery option holds 1,311 pounds.
SUV with Standard Battery holds 1,123 pounds.
SUV with Extended Battery option holds only 821 pounds...
I remember during a hurricane Tesla flashed more capacity to cars in the area.
Found it. Hurricane Irma in 2017. They added 30-40 more miles to the range with the update.
Could be.
I think it's because the initial Truck prioritizes economy in its design, leaving room for more grrr in a later, more expensive version.
Admittedly that could be some Wishful Thinking happening on my part. :) I'd happily pay extra for AWD and 500# more load / towing capacities.
FWIW, the U-Haul trailer for motorcycles doubles as a utility trailer and weighs in at a hefty 870 pounds. 😮
Edit: Aerodynamics aren't spectacular either.
Interesting. That's slightly different that what I was thinking.
Similarly, hard drives (and other storage media) have "reserved sectors" that can get mapped in as a replacement if a sector fails.
Would a factory Class 2 hitch receiver option include wiring?
Seems like it would, or at least there'd be instructions on Slate U for how to get wiring to the hitch.
I usually buy used cars. That's worked out well, and I wouldn't mind continuing. (ProTip: A pre-purchase inspection by a good mechanic is money well spent.)
Some of the items on the list👆 are why I'd buy a Slate Truck new, but not any other new vehicle.
Glad you asked!
Simplicity is a good reason.
There are other reasons. Here's a non-exhaustive list:
Affordable price
Direct-to-Consumer model (no stealership)
Compact dimensions
Low cost of operation
Very low maintenance
Emphasis on safety
Lack of telemetrics
Two seats (for some a bug, for...
Chevrolet charges the regular delivery charge of $1,395 plus a Museum Delivery charge of $1,495, bringing the total to $2,890 for Corvette delivery in Bowling Green.
Museum delivery includes a tour of the assembly plant, a VIP museum tour, and various commemorative items.
Repeating for emphasis:
The weight of four average-weight American adult males exceeds the load capacity of a Truck with an SUV Kit, Extended Battery and Spare Carrier.
Heading for the airport? Better put the luggage on a trailer. ;)
The next release should be an AWD Truck with heavier-duty...
