Are you installing an anti-theft alarm / security system?

Seems to me the Secure Key Ignition Module would make it an order of magnitude more difficult compared to a simple in-pocket RFID. Just for that method (key cloning). I'm sure there will be other methods.

Yes, the Slate DOES compete with the Maverick (and more!)

I suppose. If you're traveling via Uber, maybe. Total cost of ownership is the cost of getting from "all of the letters" to "all of the other letters" over a period of time. Depreciation (Price at purchase minus value at sale) Insurance, Registration, etc. Fuel / Energy Maintenance and...

Orange Slate SUV w/ 2" lift, BFG All-Terrain AT T/A tires, upgraded bumper, white roof, roof rack - photos from Cleveland Ohio

It doesn't look lifted to me. Just fender flares. Looks great. My desire to mount bigger tires (and suffer the consequences that entails) has diminished a bit. That size fills the fenderwell perfectly with the lift.

Yes, the Slate DOES compete with the Maverick (and more!)

EV was only two letters in that sentence, so let me point out that the slate won't require the expense and hassle of maintaining and repairing a lot of extra moving parts. In the long run that adds up to a big difference. Initial price is only part of cost-of-ownership. Another important...

Yes, the Slate DOES compete with the Maverick (and more!)

That's because the slate is a coupe utility vehicle (CUV).

Thanks for posting the tire photo. That's a BFG AT tire in the stock (29.5") size in a +2" size.

Are you installing an anti-theft alarm / security system?

That conceivably wouldn't work for the Slate's fob because it's not the kind you can leave in your pocket.

Yes, the Slate DOES compete with the Maverick (and more!)

Maybe look at it this way... There are people for whom the Maverick and Tacoma are a near-perfect match for their needs and desires. Some of them could be tempted away by the Slate Truck' Unique Proposition. There are also some other people whose ideal vehicle is a Slate Truck who wouldn't buy...

Yes, the Slate DOES compete with the Maverick (and more!)

The Slate Truck is a unique proposition in the marketplace for many reasons, not the least of which is because it is / can be a small pickup. And it's an EV to boot!

Unfortunately "Ricer" is already taken, haha.

I hate the dashboard!! (and I propose a redesign)

Double Bonus Points if you can find a Chevy Citation that made it to 300,000 miles. Good luck! 😉

Expected price now "Mid-Twenties" for Slate truck

Two digits for the Tacoma, but it has a relatively small capacity. Recently a receipt printer was broken, so I took a snapshot of the pump How many miles could a Slate Truck drive on $106.33's worth of electrons?

Expected price now "Mid-Twenties" for Slate truck

Maybe 1% will. And it will require a lot of maintenance and repair cost and hassle to make that happen because of all the extra moving parts.

Taller 17" All-Terrain Tires for OEM Wheels

ProTip regarding Toyo Open County AT III tires: The OWL (outline white letter) and BSW (black sidewall) versions in a given size are not the same tire because the white lettering isn't the only difference. The BSW tire has larger lugs (same pattern, just larger and with wider gaps) and it has...

I queried AI. Here's the summary of the answer: In summary, while the de Dion tube functions similarly to a beam axle in terms of maintaining wheel alignment and suspension geometry, it is not typically called an axle in the conventional sense due to its lack of involvement in power...

I hate the dashboard!! (and I propose a redesign)

I had a similar experience when I asked if 16-inch wheels would fit because I was hoping 215/85R16 (30.4" x 8.5") tires could be an option. I suspected the agent's answer was wrong, so I asked two more times, with increasing specificity, before getting the correct answer. And there's no...

Is the De Dion tube (crossmember) an axle? If so there are three axles because the half-shafts are axles.
