Since the bed isn’t separate from the cab, I think the Slate is no more a truck than an El Camino is. There’s your loophole.

Good point. We cannot rely on others to take the lead but we can control what we do as individuals. I would gladly swap with other Slate owners who don’t feel that they have to have new parts. This forum could serve as a launching pad for such an endeavor.

There’s a pass through hatch on the front bulkhead if you need to carry some longer 2x4’s in the bed. I plan to cut some boards to fit it the side channels to allow for plywood to fit above the wheel wells. With straps of course.
