I was considering this too, however I still don’t know how I’d get it to work in the Slate. I would like the in-dash mounted speakers (if they’re any good) and they would need an aux input to plug in this screen, not to mention power. Also, if this will be using Bluetooth to connect to my phone...
If the constant feed is the only issue, I’m sure there are work arounds. I just wanted to know if a double DIN would physically fit into it, but after asking in different ways to different reps, they’re not giving me any real details about that yet.
It wouldn’t be to add function to the slate itself, it would just turn your phone into a more easily manageable display and user interface while driving. Like Apple CarPlay and android audio does.
It may sound petty, but I’d rather not have to take my phone out of my pocket and back in every time I get in and out of my car to listen to music or use GPS. So I’d like to be able to install an aftermarket screen. If I have to use my phone, I’m hoping at least the app will turn into a...
Though I don’t care about AM/FM presets since I only want an aftermarket system for CarPlay, I do worry about a unit loosing other settings like equalizer, screen brightness, volume when the unit is turned on, etc. Also units may go through a longer initial boot startup. I’m pretty sure there...
The CEO has stated a while back: “the center storage bin that we have has been designed in the right dimensions to be able to put in a double D radio so if you really do want to bring in a radio it’s again that power of choice back to the owner.”
I’ve just been looking for confirmation of this...
Agreed. I’ve also thought about the standalone CarPlay screens but just unsure how they’d work out at this point. If I added slate’s in-dash speakers, they must work off of whatever is plugged into the phone/tablet mount. So id probably need a usb c to audio jack if it even works that way...
All I would like is a screen to be able to use Apple CarPlay wirelessly and not have to take my phone out all the time.
I recently asked Slate if I could simply install an aftermarket radio with a touchscreen. Here was their response…
I wish I could’ve been there but they give such short notice. Their schedule had been saying New York August 1st-6th with no details. Then, on Wednesday July 30th, they send an email saying they’ll be in manhattan on Saturday. No time to reschedule my plans. Now they’ll be in the same spot on...
