I like the bed cover also. After market sites have trifold covers for around $700. Slate is not listed yet, but Ford Ranger is. That would be a good place for the spare tire and tools, and I know it's not theft proof, but what is? At least it's not visible.
Yes, I'll need a test drive to check noise level and ride quality. I'll also need to browse accessories, door pockets, center console, phone holder, speaker options etc. I'm also on the fence about ER battery. That will depend on price.
Yes, it will be a long wait for the June price announcement, but that's the way it goes. The good news is that you will have answers to all your questions about accessories and prices. Can you pick it up in Warsaw? Bench seat? Footwell? Rear cover configuration options? V2L? on and on. True to...
It's dangerous to power up a male plug, don't do it. The by-pass switch at the breaker box probably won't let you do it either. Do yourself a favor and hire an electrician to do it right. Based on wire size they will determine the correct breaker size. I have a 240V 30-amp outlet in my garage...
So, I read somewhere(?) that Slate is being built w off the shelf parts. I wonder how many and which parts are custom only to Slate? If Slate goes belly-up what will be irreplaceable? All the body parts will be gone but what else? If the warranty goes away what can't be repaired by somebody else?
I'm not finding Slate listed on the Repairpal site. I know there is a lot of time to add Slate to the list. I searched Tesla Repairpal and I found only 1 business in my area. Where do you current EV owners get your vehicles serviced/repaired? Do you take it back to the dealership or to...
New to me anyway. Inside EV " Why Slate's CEO isn't too worried about cheap Chinese EVs" interview w 42 photos though I've seen most of them. Click on dash photo to see all the pics.
I had that thought too but I gave it up. I'd drive it to Iowa. I have no EV experience so it would be a sink or swim adventure for me. It might be a good adventure for you if you can get the truck.
Emotionally I'm ready to buy a slate. I need to put some thought into it though before I buy. I resurrected this thread to help me stay grounded. Can any of you early adopters past or future share your decision-making steps?
I would continue to drive my 2015 Forester w 85K miles. My wife has a 2025 Outback we use for traveling. Smart money says keep driving the Forester.
However, I am excited to buy an EV and a small truck would fit for hauling a bike or bags of mulch and trips around town. This truck is a want, not...
NMC or LFP? I'll take the cheapest one that gives me around 70-80 kWh. I don't care about resale value because I will be keeping it for 8-10 years. Old school NMC battery technology might be more bulletproof and less prone to glitches. Maybe?
