Who’s Reserving the Slate EV: Everyday Americans, Young Professionals, New Drivers, Contemporary Seniors, Auto Enthusiasts

Depends on the state of gasoline prices the way I view it. In California with the highest gas prices, everyone one is shifting to EV and PHEV. My consistently depreciating asset (Ford BEV) is actually climbing up in resale value. Figure that out!

What Would You Do if The Slate Truck Does Not Manifest?

Same here - waiting for the Ford new EV truck. If Slate does not appear, I'd get the Ford since I already love my Mach e EV.

Who wants this battery in their blank Slate?

Probably too expensive for the first EV production batteries - probably not going into a Slate as it's a low cost EV.

AM/FM Radio is a safety issue

Wow haven't heard of that programming language in decades! I was barely learning BASIC and C back then. And now we are no longer CLI - it's all graphical.

Slate Auto w/ Tonneau Cover Walkaround from Fort Worth Texas showing (February 27)

I just wish ALL GA planes had ADS-B In/Out. There are some old timers who fly in uncontrolled airspace: class G & E without any ADS-B nor transponder. Also have to watch for UAV/UAS, gliders, balloons, and ultra LW craft. Those pilots in the air scares me!

It's a life saver! Without it, I'd be flying around not knowing what's around me.

Slate Auto w/ Tonneau Cover Walkaround from Fort Worth Texas showing (February 27)

 OMG - you sound like my aviation college professor teaching Coriolis forces in the north vs southern hemisphere! And opposite turning error with an aviation directional gyro (compass).

    The Donut Story Continues.

Yes, agree it will be a while down the road. Being able to replace current battery tech with SS batteries is promising, but the costs for final production will be the true test.

Regen braking non adjustable ? Deal breaker for me.

My Honda Clarity PHEV has regen paddles behing the steering wheel which makes driving with 4 levels of regen possible. Guess regen paddles won't happen on the Slate ?

Slate Auto w/ Tonneau Cover Walkaround from Fort Worth Texas showing (February 27)

Just like my aviation flight lessons, I have to use a seat booster because the plane's seats do not go up and down. Without the cushion, I can not see above the instrument cluster for VFR flight. If Slate seats do not go up/down then I will have to use the same aviation cushion from my flight bag.

That's called clickbait in social media circles.

Regen braking non adjustable ? Deal breaker for me.

Ford's Blue Cruise also has that same issue at low speeds and congested traffic. I get jerked around so I never use the hands and foot free ACC for anything other than long road trips where speeds are high and spacing is safe.

You hit it on the head! Agree - it is personal preference. And yes, would definitely need to test drive it before i would buy. Nausea while driving is not a fun drive....

Regen braking non adjustable ? Deal breaker for me.

Upgrading batteries after purchase - would be costly - compared to ordering one from the factory. You should look at what your driving pattern will be along with charging infrastructure as well as charge at home options. I have a standard range BEV (230 mile range) and it's perfect for my 5...

Ford Level 3 Eyes-Off Driving to launch on $30K Ford EV Truck

Yes you are correct - COVID pricing for sure when the federal deductions were in place along with 0.9% financing. I have had 4 vendors take a look - one of them did it virtually using Google satellite mapping. The other 3 came up with the same amount of solar panel efficiency. My neighbor...

Regen braking non adjustable ? Deal breaker for me.

100% agree! Definitely will need a test drive to see if it will fit into my style of driving in urban congested traffic.

Have you driven a '24 or '25 Tesla ? They have harsh lurching if you pull your foot off. In Los Angeles, we drive with our brakes covered at all times. Idiot jerks who love to cut you off are the norm.

Ford Level 3 Eyes-Off Driving to launch on $30K Ford EV Truck

We tried to install solar 5 years ago when it was "lucrative" back then before the cessation of federal funds. Our roof angles do not allow for more than 60% offset of our bill. Was not worth the $45,000 solar panel job.

Thread for posting battery breakthrough articles. Tech is changing rapidly.

Agree! It's mostly vaporware and more like ongoing research. Can you imagine having a perfect EV battery made of nuclear materials that lasts over 50 years? BetaVoltaic makes nuclear decay batteries but since they are radioactive, it might not work well with people sitting on top of them ?
