  1. How do you feel about Slate's towing capacity?

I think you misunderstand my use of the trailer. It'll be for hauling drywall / wood / cabinets / etc. I have a house that needs to be remodelled after my kids move out, not rebuilt from the ground up.
  2. How do you feel about Slate's towing capacity?

The only thing I *might* tow is a trailer to/from home depot. If I have to tow more than a half ton, I'll use the wife's F150. Which has towed an SUV before, no problem.
  3. Thread came up about replacing the battery on a BMW X5

This is the BEST point made here, by far.
  4. Factory Update Email Received 5/7/26

I cannot express how excited I am over the birth of a new automotive company in this country. Especially one not run by a crazy person.
  5. Thread came up about replacing the battery on a BMW X5

Autozone and O'Reilly's both carry OBD2 readers that can clear codes. I've had to go in and read codes on my Ford Escape's check engine light. Also, setting up a USB dongle is a 5-10 dollar, 15 minute procedure at most. So neither of this is a high bar.
  6. Rodeo Slate Build Walkaround

Damn misleading title...I expected a slate with horns on the front. Guess I'll have to AI it....
  7. Slate partners with Tweddle Group

Same. I've saved so, SO much money by watching Youtube videos for home repairs and Repair Clinic videos for appliance repairs that I miss the days of being able to repair my own vehicle (instead of just doing maintenance things).
  8. Why do YOU want a Slate?

I'll go: My kids are at the age where they are driving, and I'm at the position of being able to give them the vehicles we've paid off (or will soon). That leaves me with the need of a vehicle (other than my motorcycle). I'd like to haul groceries and things from home depot. A truck is IDEAL...
  9. THERE WILL BE A TIME WHEN IT JUST WON'T GO

This thread is now about pizza toppings. Ham and Pineapple are the two best toppings on a pizza. I will die on that hill.
  10. Pre-orders starting in June! See OFFICIAL confirmation from Slate Auto

Seriously. "Does it move? Can it do reasonable speeds? Great, sign me up." I'm not sure what a 5 minute test drive is going to show people about a bare bones EV. Oh well.
  11. Three Months Before Price Announcement. Guess the MSRP.

I voted 27k+, because I'm a pessimist. I suspect it'll be 25k for the base model, but then some "delivery fee" will rack it up. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and it's 25k.
  12. Doug Demuro has been trying (whining)

This has already been heavily discussed on reddit, so I'll just leave this here: Doug Demuro knows fuck all about cars. He got famous for crashing one at a track and getting dropped from Jalopknik. His review of the slate isn't going to be about it's "quirks or features", he's going to rail on...
  13. Room For My Stuff........

You've heard of "Elf on the Shelf", now we've got "Drunk in the frunk!" Coming soon to an Uber near you! (ok, I'm done, I promise)
  14. Room For My Stuff........

Ok, I'm now laughing at the idea of a drunk guy stuck in the frunk. Thanks, i needed that today.
  15. Video - How Slate driver seat fits heights from 6'5" to 5'5"

12 inch speakers installed in the space over the drivers and passenger seats? ;) (My first vehicle had 6 inch speakers in the roof over the driver and passenger seats. 16 year old me LOVED it. Really clear sound.)
  16. The Shine is Coming Off the Donut!

These journalists have done a deeper dive into the company and some of it's history. Great video overall: The questions after this should be "Why haven't they patented this game changing technology?" and "Can they scale before some big manufacturer can pivot to start making these?"
  17. Who wants this battery in their blank Slate?

I watched this video last night, becuase I, too, am skeptical. The two problems I know of solid state batteries are expanding pouches, and materials. If they are really batteries, how did they overcome the expanding problem? If they aren't batteries, and are actually capacitors, how are they...
  18. Poll - What are you budgeting for Slate accessories?

The blanker, the better. I put about 10k miles on my vehicle this year due to work from home. Accessories would be pointless for me.
