Interface device? It doesn't sound like the Slate interfaces unless you are plugging in and running the Slate app. My phone needs a Lightning connector, not USBC, so the dash holder isn't particularly useful.
I was thinking perhaps a hidden Bluetooth receiver connected to some minimally visible...
I did get to sit in a Slate pickup last year when it was at the Seattle Space Needle. It was pretty typical of sitting in a modern small SUV or mid-size pickup. A little wider and taller than my 2004 Tacoma 5-lug.
Perhaps you can get the Slate app to do all that, but from my brief emails with them the abilities of the app seem very limited at this time. I asked about terminating the charge at 80% and was told it isn’t possible now but was something they were looking into. App door unlock — why would that...
You are correct, it won't even have local area Bluetooth. I will avoid the steering wheel Bluetooth controls and factory Bluetooth speaker options. I posted a connectivity question off to Slate Auto and got this in my reply;
"For phone connectivity, you have two options. You can dock your phone...
That will be interesting as many phones are not really set up for wired connections. Apple keeps pretty tight controls on what wired devices work on their phones, to the point where I use my iCloud account to move photos off the phone because my Mac is too old to to use iTunes with my newer...
Based on the comment that started this thread, and some of Slate's own statements (like the optional steering wheel Bluetooth controls) it appears that the Slate will have Bluetooth connectivity. This is almost certainly how the phone app connects to the car so you can make settings changes and...
I think that is quite likely, as that chemistry is cheaper, and EV rebate incentive for EVs had been canceled. That rebate required a US sourced battery for a vehicle to qualify. The range penalty for LFP, compared to NMC designs just a few years older, is shrinking as battery construction has...
The Greenwood Car Show (Seattle) in late June would be a place for lots of people to see the Slate. Every year they have cars from the brass era to brand new on display, including EVs from the past and present.
I'm not sure why having a radio is really a safety issue, being a one way communication device. Still, I would be happy to have a basic AM/FM radio and 1 or 2 speakers in the dash. In both cars my wife and I have we mostly just listen to FM stations with music of our choice, and too many ads.
I was wondering what the difference was between the "rubber floor mat insert" option and the "rubber floor liner."
Back in 2004 I had Toyota swap out the standard carpeted mats in my new Tacoma for the factory rubber floor mats. They are easier to clean and it just seems a very "truck" thing...
My Slate will replace my 2004 Tacoma. I've enjoyed it for 73k miles since buying it new, but it's old now and others can better enjoy a clean original first gen Taco. I'll miss the 5-speed, but I have driven other EVs and they don't need shifting. It is interesting to feel the how an electric...
It would appear that the the link in the first post, https://mcnethost.net/slate_config/, doesn't like Firefox 115.35.2esr. So I opened that link in an older unsupported version of Chrome and it worked. Thanks for the input Sodamo!
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Please look up one post. I followed the directions on the first post in this thread, but I got didn't get the result everyone else seems to be getting!
Its a pretty simple configuration for a pretty basic truck owner.

Well that didn't F-ing work. I followed the...
I'm hoping the Slate pickup will be my first new EV purchase. It would replace the 2004 Tacoma single cab 2wd pickup that I purchased new, and which is now up to 73k miles.
I have done a couple of home brew EV conversions long before EVs were available new. I saw my first EV conversion as a...
