"telematics module" and "1 year subscription"

OBD won't give us a way to expand features, if we're lucky we will just get some read-only data out/reset some logs/error codes. The only connectivity to the car the app will have is through the usb plug to the right of the steering wheel. It seems really likely to me they haven't worked out...

Are you planning to pre-order without ever having sat in a Slate?

Slate is being extremely open in their design and plans to stay that way, along with repairability and respecting your privacy. They want you to actually own your slate truck. If I can't sit in one before I put 300 bucks down, so be it. I must support them for going down what I see as the...

    Third Brake Lights

Where are the reverse lights? I dont think anywhere it would legal to have those amber in color... I really think the 3rd light on the tailgate makes it look rushed. I really liked the light in the back window. I hope they have a good reason...

    Suggestions for first-time pickup owner?

I hate truck bed mounted toolboxes. They just end up collecting junk in my experience, and rust, and rattle, and they take up space right where you most often need it. And I'm a short dude so it's a pain to reach into. I'll be finding whatever bucket & lid fits vertically in the frunk, and...

Privacy Article: Slate says your truck will never track you!

Do we know if it will have an OBDII port? At the minimum, I'd like to see the state of charge from my Home Assistant. If I have to make an OBDII-ESP32 gateway for some basic data reads, I will. Some data will be available somewhere. Edit...

Will the Slate’s 8 seconds to 60 mph be adequate for safe highway merging?

According to google, ALL of my previous vehicles were slower at 0-60mph. I've never felt the need for anything faster in my 20 years of daily driving 30+ miles as well as cross country road trips. Maybe I just haven't had a midlife crisis yet.

Slate don't have a radio. Get over it please. I know you can use a phone as a radio to listen to music. What is the best way to pickup(no pun int

https://radio.garden/ works great with no need to install any apps. They have one but you can just use a browser.

What side will Charging Port be on?

I know they are showing the charging port on the drivers side in all the previews, but in the video (first couple seconds) "Inside Slate Auto’s EV Facility | Tour with CEO & Lead Engineer" it clearly shows a nacs port on the passenger side. The sign on the wall isn't reversed so it isn't a...

The ONE thing that I believe could actually cause Slate to fail...

Watched a coworker fumble around with an app just to get his tacoma unlocked the other day. A relied upon amenity is an opportunity for something you rely on to let you down. I see no amenities as more sophistication, not less value. My first was a 99 ford ranger. Base everything. Plastic...
