  1. I just want a damn radio!

I'll likely put in a radio simply because I don't think it will be very hard. I'll mainly want it for steaming but having receiver capability should be super easy. Besides, then I'll be able to listen to some sportsball games. I do listen to the news on my morning commute but I find I'm...
  2. Cargo Kit will be available to retail customers (confirmed by Slate)

I'm planning on a heavy cargo net. It may not be perfect but a cab window isn't stopping the projectile NAPA brake disc either.
  3. Impressions by friends, online communities and acquaintances

I only know one person who has even heard of the Slate. No one else that I've talked to about it is interested in it. To be fair, that's similar to most of my interests. :D
  4. Who else is disappointed

I wouldn't say I'm disappointed but I'm not as excited as I hoped, either. Some things are cheaper than I expected, some are more expensive. I pulled my $50 back but that doesn't mean I won't keep an eye on Slate. Once all the pricing has been released, I might place an order.
  5. New pics show updated center console, new speaker (radio?) dashboard panel, carrying plywood with tailgate up

Did anyone notice how expensive the new center speaker + R-L speaker dash is in the maker? I'm hoping for the single/double DIN slot like we've been speculating on.
  6. PREORDERED!! 🙌 Have You?

I think you're correct. I had the April - June delivery date but I ended up cancelling my reservation to get my $50 bucks back. Since I'm still interested in ordering, pending the future pricing updates, I checked the delivery date again and it just said 2027 now. I probably only lost a few...
  7. Release Day! What pleasantly surprised you. What mildly disappointed you?

I'm bummed that there is no cargo option listed. Maybe they'll add it in later.
  8. PREORDERED!! 🙌 Have You?

    Boo, no cargo top info.
  9. Are you going to put in an order tomorrow or in the next 30 days?

I voted that I'm not going to place an order but that may not be technically true. I'm considering asking for my $50 back, but then turning right around and placing an order so I go to the back of the line. My estimation is that it will still be in 2027, but with a few more bugs worked out.
  10. Cargo Kit will be available to retail customers (confirmed by Slate)

Anyhooo..... I'm looking forward to learning more about the cargo kit, because that's how I want to configure my Slate.
  11. Insurance - working with my agent

I once insured a self assembled vehicle (kit car) and they simply said, "what do you want it insured for?" My payment was then based on the liability coverage (which is probably uniform, based on the driver) plus the replacement value that I gave them.
  12. SLATE PREORDER!

    Bahahahaha!!!! Good one, Slate! :giggle:
  13. Range Anxiety

If it makes you feel any better, "this might be the last time" is technically true for all of us. Having said that, it doesn't make me feel any better. :(
  14. What was your first vehicle?

My 1980 4-cyl! Objectively a terrible car but I loved it and have a ton of stories that will go with me to my grave.
  15. Bed height from ground and Bed sidewall height

I'm planning on lowering ours to make animal loading easier. Pot-bellied pigs are not known for their jumping ability.
  16. Mods to Increase Tow Capacity

Just to throw my $0.02 in here, most small utility trailers (5'x8') have a 2000# total weight and I see a LOT of those around. Also, that's what I will tow the most so 2000# is the sweet spot for me!
  17. So, what's the Slate's 'Jeep wave' to other Slate drivers?

That could be an "art car", which is equally stupid, IMHO. There are some art cars that are really clever and interesting but the ones with stuff just glued to the outside are dumb. Again, IMHO, YMMV, ETC...
  18. Range Anxiety

I'm one of those that will likely go with the 240 mile version. My wife and I each have an elderly parent that live close to each other but not to us. We go visit them just about every weekend and the round trip is about 130 miles. Now, there are chargers in the area and we could easily stop but...
  19. Mods to Increase Tow Capacity

Sandbagging. I see what you did there.
  20. "I'm gonna fix my Slate myself" crowd - educate me - fix what?

My answer is: I don't know yet, but when something does break, I look forward to Slate U allowing me to fix it myself. I've done enough maintenance on vehicles over the years to know that things are getting harder and more guarded against the DIY'er. I'm hoping that changes with Slate.
