I don't view a small utility trailer (<2000# total) as needing a "Tow Vehicle". We have a big truck for doing real towing. I'd consider a small utility trailer firmly in the "city runabout" capability range like our 120HP Transit Connect. Not saying who's right or wrong, just an observation on...

I've already accepted that I'll be happily overloading my Slate when towing. I'm not towing on the freeway up the mountain, I'm getting a load of hay / straw / mulch on my 5x8 utility trailer from down the flat road.

I'd love to be able to continue using my 5'x8' utility trailer. It has a gross vehicle weight rating of #2000 though. :(
