  1. How Much Can a Slate Tow / Haul - new page on Slate website

Considering I move my 2000# loaded utility trailer around the farm with my old electric golf cart, I'm sure this could handle higher loads at low speeds too.
  2. What would you tow?!

Based on the silly answers they gave for other questions, I would expect the answer to be "On the back."
  3. What would you tow?!

For me, it's more for the angle of the trailer. The smallest harbor freight trailer that was perfectly level when attached to the hitch on my Shelby Cobra kit car will be tilting up quite a bit on my Slate with 2" lift. That greatly increases the risk of the back of the trailer dragging when...
  4. How do you feel about Slate's towing capacity?

I'm still going to tow my 5x8 utility trailer a few miles down the road to pick up 2, 21-bale bundles of straw. I'm pretty sure the total weight is 1000#. ;) My anemic 160HP transit connect can do it so I have faith. :fingerscrossed:
  5. THERE WILL BE A TIME WHEN IT JUST WON'T GO

I've never had a car towed other than on a flatbed. When you said that it would ruin the tires, I was thinking, "from 20 feet of slow sliding? no way" because I was only thinking of flatbed towing. Having said that, the times I've had cars towed was due to a mechanical issue that wouldn't allow...
  6. What would you tow?!

I don't view a small utility trailer (<2000# total) as needing a "Tow Vehicle". We have a big truck for doing real towing. I'd consider a small utility trailer firmly in the "city runabout" capability range like our 120HP Transit Connect. Not saying who's right or wrong, just an observation on...
  7. What would you tow?!

I've already accepted that I'll be happily overloading my Slate when towing. I'm not towing on the freeway up the mountain, I'm getting a load of hay / straw / mulch on my 5x8 utility trailer from down the flat road.
  8. What would you tow?!

I'd love to be able to continue using my 5'x8' utility trailer. It has a gross vehicle weight rating of #2000 though. :(
