The last soft top I had was on an old Wrangler, loved it... until... short story time! :P
I had it parked on the street in SNCO military housing in Rapid City, South Dakota many years ago. Full soft top, zip-out windows, the works. Came out one morning to find someone had slashed big diagonal...
I really have to hand it to the Slate Customer Service crew, wading through all of the repetitive, sometimes complex, sometimes rediculous messages and requests they must receive every day. I have yet to hear of someone NOT getting some sort of personal, non-automated reply from them.
If the internet is to be believed, my H3 0-60 is 10.2 seconds. I've never had a problem merging or getting up to traffic speed (and I've had it on the Autobahn many many times while stationed in Holland for 2.5 years). I don't think I'd worry too much about it with the Slate. :)
I hope there are lots of Slate owner get-togethers/local clubs, etc. When I bought my new H3 in 2006 (first model year), there were lots of "Hummer Clubs" around and I attended two of their meets. Was pretty cool meeting the owners, comparing rides, picking up groovy swag, the works. I'm...
Probably true. Replying to you but open to anyone; what do you think the chances are of the tax credit returning, and will it be retroactive to cover the break?
Spoiler! Leaked image of Slate Auto's revamped Maker for their 24 Jun reveal!
Manual transmission, bio-fuel, no electronics, no windows; only what you need!
No low-balls, I know what I got!
I think this exact thing happened to me too. I was looking for an EV truck over a several-day period, bummed they were all so expensive and packed with crap I didn't want, and on 27 Apr stumbled on the Slate Reveal link. I reserved soon after watching the video, but was already several days...
My Slate will be my new "daily" driver (being retired, I actually drive maybe twice a week max, and that's just into town for errands/trash). I have other cars for other purposes, but honestly most of my driving will be in the Slate.
I'm still on the fence Not sure I like how they look in the builder, and what kind of "customization" would I need to do to my signal lights? One of those things I might have to see demonstrated before I get them.
I'm sure Slate has a distro plan already fleshed out, but I hope it's flexible enough to accommodate forecast errors. Like, if someone earlier in the queue takes a pass, I want their spot! 😂
lol, ya; they nailed it! I used a simple prompt in chat gpt; just loaded a pic of my desired Slate and prompted it to "redraw attached image in the art style of Rat Fink tearing down the highway" (or something to that effect) and that was it; ezpz :)
Were I you, I'd temper my window expectations and push it to mid 2027; I fear there may be a lot of folks ahead of you in the queue (even with your fairly decent reservation date). This way, if you DO get an earlier window you can celebrate :)
