In the oilfield service business
we made an open box with a plywood floor
and 2x12 sides to prevent wellheads
from rolling around and smashing
the walls of the pickup bed.
Helped keep the bed clean, too.
They say when you age you cage.
That's true for me.
Rode about 100,000 miles on two wheels,
67,000 of them on a Yamaha V-Max,
and owned a number of motorcycles.
Put my kickstand down for good
when I turned 67 and switched to Jeeps.
Figured I had stretched my luck far enough.

Upon further reflection
the Fiat 500e was discontinued for 2026
and replaced with the hybrid Abbrida.
The unit above is two years old and used,
but still very attractively priced.
You are correct, Sir.
In fact that is how I bought
my 21 Nacho Gladiator in 2023.
It was in Manheim PA
and I am in East Texas.
Guess I'm not that motivated after all.
The Fiat is at a Ram dealer because Fiat bought Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep
and renamed themselves Stellantis.
In 1970, I was stationed in West Germany
and bought a used Fiat 850.
If someone had told me then
that Fiat would one day own Chrysler/Jeep
I would have told them
that they had...
No stranger to small pickups.
I had a 1995 Nissan compact pickup.
Put 120,000 miles on it.
Traded in 2009
in the Obama Cash for Clunkers
for a midsize Toyota Tacoma Access Cab
kept until 2023
when I purchased yet another midsize truck,
albeit a four door Jeep Gladiator Rubicon.
Looking forward...
A butt-o-meter !
Evidently I was not issued one of those.
My purchase decisions
have mostly been based on emotion.
I have to be smitten, infatuated.
The Nacho Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Truck
in my avatar is a good example.
Purchased used, sight unseen
and shipped 1800 miles.
I had never driven...
The Subaru Brat bed mounted seats
was a workaround
to classify it as an SUV instead of a truck.
The Johnson 25% "Chicken Tax" tariff
also applied to Japanese trucks.
Subsequently modified by Reagan
to close the chassis cab loophole,
it ultimately prompted the Japanese
to move production into...
It's just that it reminds me of the reporter who asked a little old lady
what she thought
of her first visit to a nude beach.
"Somehow, I feel cheated."
And on the HOV 3+ lanes
a Slate truck will need the optional SUV package.
No $7,500 tax credit, no HOV lane.
Remind me, why I should buy one.
For three years on my commute to work
my Yamaha V-Max got 40 mpg
and passed 1,000 bumper to bumper vehicles
as I cruised 11 miles of HOV lane.
I was...
The tax credit is cruel.
It favors the wealthy
who have no need for it
and is of no help
to lower income people
who need it the most.
It amounts to a regressive tax.
Obama's Cash for Clunkers credit
was even more cruel
as it also removed perfectly good
affordable used cars
from the market.
Dealers do not lease cars themselves but instead sell them to leasing companies. The leasing company, or lessor, is the actual owner of the vehicle during the lease term, while the dealership acts as an intermediary.
There should be no impediment
to leasing a Slate.
