Aside from the eye watering prices, RetroSound's radios fit quite well with the bare-bones Slate design. Good form factor too. And those give you at least bluetooth / Aux / XM if you get the antenna.
Also curious about:
RetroSound Enhanced Amplified Hide-away antenna (WPA2)
The RetroSound®...
This isn't an officially sanctioned forum, you'll have to reach out to Slate directly through their contact page if you want to actually tell them something. They have responded to everything we've asked so far.
I've heard nothing of it, but other than that very first pre-announcement Cat Therapy Slate fastback that was parked on the street with the fun wrap I don't think there's ever been another one shown. If there's been more I'd assume that they were all re-wraps of this one.
It certainly could be...
The closest thing I could think of without a full new roof design would be a bimini / bikini soft top for the rear, similar to how Jeeps/Broncos/etc do it. But in this case it would just be a panel over the rear portion:
Actually, Toyota 4runners had this exact kind of top offered from the...
I wouldn't be surprised if, to keep the cost down, the Slate camera is a standard composite video feed that would be rerouted to a double din radio. Heck, THAT you could argue is a safety thing as the double din screen / whatever someone opts to add in would be bigger than the dashboard one.
I...
I still hear some people talk about Bronco IIs with rose tinted glasses, including one former boss who rolled one. I'm sure there's gotta be a small percentage of people that are wanting one these days that Slate could potentially tap into the market of. To quote Arrested Development, "There...
I remember helping build webpages in MacroMedia DreamWeaver. Hell, one of them is still up.
I'd like to think / hope that the frame the body panels are all mounted to will give us enough metal for a good antenna ground. I'll absolutely do a motorized one or a big whip.
I really hope at some...
Pleased to see that the headlight panels are a separate piece from the bumper and come off with only a few screws, allowing access to the headlights. Some would argue that makes them easier to steal, but as someone who's has to remove the entire front fascia and bumper from a car to get at em...
I've posted before that we just got a new O'Reilly's store by my house. Along with that came a fleet of brand new parts runners. Two Nissan Frontiers and a Versa. Those could be Slates! On top of that they've already totaled the Versa, and last week caved the front of one of the Frontiers in...
I hit a slalom washboard section of the Chicago Skyway going about 70 in a single cab '99 Ranger. Great way to go from 😁😁 to 🫥 🫥 silence in no time flat!
Given it's a single cab pickup I'm thinking Slate will have some way to disable the passenger airbag entirely for front-riding car-seats so it shouldn't be a big deal to remove the seat if that's an option.
Their jobs posting page still shows 107 open positions, so I can believe they are sorely behind on their buildout of the factory and would absolutely push a change at the top.
Edit: A lot of these jobs are less than 30 days old so they're at least still opening more and more positions but a ton...
Slate has a ton of funding from Bezos' investment funding group that looks for potential good projects, so this could be seen as a sign of "Hey this one's actually gonna work so go make sure it stays working."
I wouldn't be opposed to a Slate convertible with a Targa bar:
My Tracker does a good job putting the soft top over the top of all the steel roof hardware. With it removed you can clearly see the gasket for the hard-top panel.
The en-Saturn-fication.
In all honesty I don't think it's a huge red flag. I've worked on bringing up a huge factory startup like that and upper management tends to move around as rolls fill out and more specialized areas start running. Saw it all the time.
I agree with just about all of it. And while this isn't a Kei, I was poking around some international google streetviews as a curiosity when I saw a very Slate sized pickup truck.
Toyota TUV, or in the case of where I saw it in South Africa, the Stallion.
Bare-bones, no frills, low cost pickup...
Seeing the new Ford EV platform unveiling videos and seeing that motorized charge door doesn't fill me with confidence on that one.
I keep up with the Cybertruck owners forums since despite me not liking the truck personally, it is a technological breakthrough in a lot of ways and I do like...
