The final monster LandCruiser Heritage editions were offered in bronze wheels, I always thought those looked pretty sharp. Althoug personally I much prefer a brighter Subaru Colin McRae 555 gold myself for wheels.
Given that this is a unibody the pickup bed is structural to the truck. I bet reinforcing the back of the cab to the pickup bed would probably help with stiffening it for a drop top conversion. The battery pack in EVs acts as a structural member so that probably helps loads too.
Those Dakota...
One of the promo vehicles had the circular trim ring removed and I liked the look of the steel wheels. I'd probably keep those and paint 'em white.
Edit: I don't know if those are the OEM steel wheels but this was a fairly early photo posted from Slate themselves:
The only metric I have been following for Slate staying on track for their deadline is the number of job postings they still have up from the first round of hiring. There's a lot of postings un-filled, and it's interesting seeing what gets added.
I'd be curious what the FWD Maverick and Santa Cruz(?) sales numbers show for FWD vs AWD purchases as well. I think in both of those cases, though, the dealers just aren't ordering base models like they used to so average joe walk-in is gonna pick up the cheapest on the lot, AWD or not.
I posted about this a while back during a similar discussion about 2 vs 4 doors, but I personally know someone who bought a 4-door pickup over an extended-cab two door for their dog. A 25lb labadoodle. "Well what if I have the dog AND a passenger? Then it'll be hard to load the dog in the back!"...
My only concern is getting a double-din radio in the cab, and I've got a pile of various single and double DIN junkyard OEM radios to shove in there. Allocating some $$ for speaker cable and a pair or 2 pairs of 6'' speakers and I'll be happy with just that for a while!
^ This exactly, Slate's taking a big gamble de-contenting the truck the way it is, and I think it's good to see what does and does not attract people to it. Especially in the EV market where up until now most modern EVs are loaded with tech and features and some buyers expect that. Slate needs...
Imagine JC Whitney catalogs still existing in the era of Slate pickups, what wild stuff would they be selling for it? I hope the Slate gets a strong owners base with full customization in mind and we start seeing some wild builds right off the bat:
On a summer trip to visit family in Michigan my mother and I took our single cab '99 Ranger and put the dog, a large labrador, in the back in a crate. She put a tarp over the top of the crate to keep the wind off. However, we hit a massive rain storm with super heavy wind and ended up doing most...
You're gonna have to wait for Slate to post some actual hourly jobs if you are wanting to work there: https://slateauto.greatjob.net/
There's still 70 open job roles for higher level positions:

Just renewed my registration on one of my vehicles (TX) and they let you update the primary and secondary colors during the renewal. It's just simple drop-downs which is nice. Took off the plasti-dipped white trim bits and got to set the Fit back to just 'blue.'
The 1,000lb towing limit sounds is definitely going to turn some people off, I know of someone that specifically was looking for something with a towing cap of 1,500lb so they could pull an A-frame (1,200lb) camper trailer. I always though the bare minimum benchmark for most vehicles was...
