Upgrading batteries after purchase - would be costly - compared to ordering one from the factory.
You should look at what your driving pattern will be along with charging infrastructure as well as charge at home options.
I have a standard range BEV (230 mile range) and it's perfect for my 5...
Yes you are correct - COVID pricing for sure when the federal deductions were in place along with 0.9% financing.
I have had 4 vendors take a look - one of them did it virtually using Google satellite mapping.
The other 3 came up with the same amount of solar panel efficiency.
My neighbor...
Have you driven a '24 or '25 Tesla ?
They have harsh lurching if you pull your foot off.
In Los Angeles, we drive with our brakes covered at all times.
Idiot jerks who love to cut you off are the norm.
We tried to install solar 5 years ago when it was "lucrative" back then before the cessation of federal funds.
Our roof angles do not allow for more than 60% offset of our bill.
Was not worth the $45,000 solar panel job.
Agree!
It's mostly vaporware and more like ongoing research.
Can you imagine having a perfect EV battery made of nuclear materials that lasts over 50 years?
BetaVoltaic makes nuclear decay batteries but since they are radioactive, it might not work well with people sitting on top of them ?
Same, love my '23 Job 1 before it got cost chopped (3 year services included, charger, and original frunk space).
My frunk is used for Costco runs and grocery store storage.
Co-worker bought a '25 Premium and he was stunned to learn that his does not have a frunk - it's closed off. But then...
Adjustable regen braking allows for much less brake use - way less than I expected.
My PHEV after 90,000 miles still has the original OEM brakes at 65% - driven with adjustable regen paddles on the steering wheel in 2PD.
My BEV after 45,000 miles still has 80% brakes left - driven in 2PD...
Yes you are correct.
8 years is typical for HV battery warranties. My BEV has another 5 years left so I am not concerned.
My PHEV has a 10 year, 150,000 mile warranty so I am coming up to that soon.
On DCFC I do tend to charge to 100% when I have the time.
Last night, I had time to "kill"...
I did exactly that - the F150 STX EcoBoost I test drove had the exact same turning radius of the Lightning.
Turning radius was the only thing that I noticed carried over from ICE to EV - everything else was way different - ride was much smoother and felt very heavy with the Lightning compared...
Slate's 2.8 mi/kWh is consistent with Ford's EV design at low speeds.
Remember, as speed increases, efficiency decreases.
As @ScooterAsheville noted that the limited range of the Slate is more suited for urban use as speeds are low and efficiency is higher.
As for my Ford BEV, I get around 3...
Ford charges $5,000 for their extended range (ER) battery pack.
Sounds like a Slate might not be the correct tool for the road - you should look for an EREV if you have such a long drive and/or lack of charger infrastructure.
For me in a heavily dense charge infrastructure, I chose standard...
That's a bummer - I really hoped Slate would use LFP for not only cost savings, but being able to charge to 100%.
When I ordered my '23 Ford BEV, i was on the cusp between a NCM Job 1 vs LFP Job 2 production.
Unfortunately, mine was a Job 1.
I still charge to 100% without worry about...
SS battery tech is years away from any practical use.
With the amount of heat generated per cell, I'd say it's a car fire spreading to a house fire waiting to happen.
Donut Labās āmiracleā solid-state battery confirms 0-80% charge in 4.5 min ā but thereās a catch...
While AI can say 1PD is enjoyable for some drivers, I don't like it.
If 1PD were adjustable and the harshness can be reduced driving in urban bumper to bumper drives, I'd be all for it.
Unfortunately everything is going towards harsh regen and lurching behavior with EVs in heavy traffic -...
Correct, it's a matter of lifting your foot slowly off the accelerator.
Some 1PD is harsh and abrupt (ie new Tesla w/ updated software = nausea).
Other 1PD is gradual and adjustable regen which makes it pleasant (ie Honda Clarity which has regen paddles on the steering wheel to control amount...
You must have an older MY ?
The new MY have non adjustable regen.
If Slate goes with Tesla's design, then I am out.
I love my Ford BEV with a choice of 1PD or 2PD.
There's no setup - just an approval by doing a test demo.
It's good for people who might suffer a crash, have cellular network failure or being out in the middle of nowhere and need emergency comms.
I have had it since iPhone 14 and it's never had a subscription as Apple extends the service...
