Your tablet would work without adding hotspot to your phone, if you preload "Here We Go" maps or similar program with downloadable maps. Download the ones you need in advance while on WiFi, and no need for a cellular connection, the GPS receiver will work fine to do the navigation.

Could be useful for some folks. Would like to see video of how that works. Having standard tailgate and ability to switch to swing out, if relatively easy, could be better overall for different use cases. Likewise for SUV and cargo, folddown & up, or door options, might both be useful for some.

As a current owner of a sweet Scion xB (first generation), I'm keeping my eye on the Slate (cargo or SUV) as its eventual replacement.
