Is Slate the name of the truck or the name of the company building it?

Yeah, I remember watching a video that referred to it as ā€œthe as yet unnamedā€¦ā€ It seemed odd to me. Like, you’re expecting a name? Why? It’s the Slate Truck. That’s it.

Received my gift in mail from Slate Auto - concept sketch

I was happy to get it. I keep folders on all of my vehicles; now I can start a Slate folder. Hopefully I’m not jinxing it, but for now at least, it feels that much more ā€œrealā€.

    Fender Flares Widen Stance?

She didn’t actually answer your question. You asked about track width, her answer refers to wheelbase. Or she’s using the wrong terminology and I’m reading it too literally.

    What was your first vehicle?

ā€˜86 XJ Cherokee with the 2.8 V6 and 3 speed slushbox. Least desirable drivetrain of all the XJs, but I loved that thing.

So many posts about, will you still buy without EV credit [WARNING: NO POLITICS]

The more I look into the Slate (youtube videos, playing around on the configurator, etc) the more I want one. Pretty sure I’m in even without the incentive as long as they can keep it under $30k.

Are you actually going to BUY the Slate Truck without a Test Drive?

Same. I had a Lightning Pro reserved, except I never even got an allocation. Then they jacked up the MSRP and I was out. I want basic, and I want good value for money. The Pro was a lot of truck for $39k.

Are you actually going to BUY the Slate Truck without a Test Drive?

ā€œYes, butā€¦ā€ They need to hit their pricing target (or close to it) for me to buy it blind. I’m expecting it to be pretty crude for that money, and I’m ok with that. An increase of say, $5k or more won’t necessarily run me off, but I’ll need to lay hands on it and be suitably impressed first.

    Introductions & Welcome Thread šŸ‘‹

I swore I wouldn’t jump on the EV train until solid state batteries came to market, but if they can deliver what they’re promising I’m ready to play ball. Fingers crossed. Go Slate go!
