Dear Slate - you need to show these things before I'll buy

I don’t know where, but somewhere on this forum it’s posted that Slate plans to let all reservation holders take a test drive once they’re ready.

How and when did you hear about Slate?

The news feed on my phone had an article 5 days after leaving stealth mode. Wasn’t looking for a vehicle, but preordered that day.

Can we get a Slate Blog on the Slate website please? We're starved for news.

Website just added a metal sign. Bought one for my garage to go next to my Studebaker one. (South Bend native)

    Slate Tailgate Technology šŸ‘‹

Only two cuts. That’s the best short video they’ve produced. :p

    Simple low-tech audio ideas

That’s the spirit! Bluetooth is an adequate low cost solution for many and some of us would not use anything we don’t install ourselves. Everyone wins! I rode in a friend’s car with Bluetooth and every text booped through his speakers. That would drive me insane, but some folks don’t mind.

    Simple low-tech audio ideas

Personally, I’d sooner mount a record player in my truck than listen through Bluetooth. At least my ā€œdropoutsā€ would be analog

Report: Slate Factory Delivery Under Consideration! Would Take Place In This Room

I guess this article DID warrant its own thread. :p Thanks to whoever gave me credit, somehow?

Articles and Videos of Interest That Don't Merit Their Own Threads

You’re right, @Dorbiman. The customer pick up seems new to me too. I was in a hurry to post before my lunch break ended.

Report: Slate Factory Delivery Under Consideration! Would Take Place In This Room

Found this on my news feed. https://arstechnica.com/cars/2025/09/slate-autos-sub-30000-ev-pickup-is-due-next-year-heres-the-factory/ Updated with factory delivery news: "A room formerly used in the printing process is filled with locals, elected officials, and journalists. The plan is to use...

Will the Slate’s 8 seconds to 60 mph be adequate for safe highway merging?

My fastest Carr was a ā€˜74 LeMans with a Pontiac 400 in it and I don’t think it was as fast as they say the Slate will be off the blocks. I’m usually the fastest car on the highway around Seattle in my ā€˜08 Prius so maybe I just don’t understand how nuts people must be in other cities. 0-60 in 8...

    Manual Window Cranks

I hope you’re right @Dorbiman. I can only find the electric window upgrade on the Slate maker and I wouldn’t trust it to be accurate.

    Manual Window Cranks

From what I’ve seen, you’ll be leaning over to push the passenger side button to roll the electric windows up/down. It looks like the ā€œupgradeā€ just adds a motor and button where the crank was. I haven’t heard anything about the passenger side being controlled on the driver side. Could be wrong...

Update: Ford's EV 'Model T moment' Announced

Folks could have gotten a Studebaker EV in 1902: Studebaker hated gasoline autos because they were ā€œsmelly and noisy,ā€ and resisted going with petrol until the market settled on it. This one could go 80 miles on a charge. Imagine where we’d be now if this idea won out.

    Copy Ford Maverick adjustable tailgate

Looks like the Slate has slots where you can fit in boards to allow sheets of plywood/drywall to lay flat above the wheel wells. Photo credit @jwocky The wheel wells are tall enough that you’ll be going over the sides after a half dozen or so sheets so strap tie downs would be appreciated...
