Dang it. That's a nice looking truck. I'm gonna have to do some cross shopping, I think.
A few issues:
Bed size. Ford looks pretty small - guessing 4.5 foot. Wish it was 5.5 at least.
Haha--okay, that might be my only issue.
I like that Ford is using LFP for their batteries. If that gets...
I'm thinking I'd just wrap the top and the cab in white and leave the sides gray. Solar damage tends to be most significant on horizontal surfaces, and the two-tone color can help with cooling (minimal, I know, but I live in Texas and every bit helps).

I keep thinking I don't need a Slate and that something like the Maverick would better fit my use case, and then I play around with the customization tool on the Slate website and fall in love all over again. Such a fun, customizable vehicle.
I own a 23 Bolt EUV with 55K miles. I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off. Battery health is still good, getting about 220-230 miles on the GOM. I think you are fine.
This. If Republicans want to weaponize gas tax, wait until the Democrats get in office and do something like this. I'm not pro or anti-EV, big truck, RV, whatever. Just be fair. $250/year for an EV is not fair.
Seems like this would be an easy option for people to put on their blank Slate. Small mirrors as standard, but pick up the large ones for a few dollars and a slight hit on highway range.
Historically, when battery packs have catastrophic failures (i.e., thermal runaway leading to a fire), it's the NMC chemistry. LFP is inherently less prone (but not completely immune) to this particular problem.
This is correct, but if you are able to fab body panels, maybe you could make an aero package. That could have a huge impact on highway range. And it could look really . . . interesting.
This. Most of us on this forum like the simplicity of the Slate truck, but honestly, we're a tiny minority of drivers. To be sustainable, Slate needs to tap into the mass market, and a 30K Ford truck that seats four, comes with carplay built in, and has L3 autonomy might absolutely crush Slate...
The one vehicle that might be a direct competitor if the Ford "Skunkworks" midsize EV truck that's due in 2027 or so. This is being designed to be manufactured inexpensively. If Ford sells it as a four door for 30k, that might do it...
I figure it will actually be optioned after the factory but before delivery. Every vehicle coming off the line will be identical except for the battery, I think.
For those that don't know about the chicken tax, pickups imported to the US are hit with a 25% tariff. This would be on top of any other tariffs.
The name "chicken tax" goes back to when the tariff was first applied as a counter to European taxes on chickens exported from the US.
Tim Kuniskis is a smart cookie, and I think he'll get things turned around for Ram. But he isn't telling the whole story here, and for his business model, he probably can't.
Regulation has basically killed any hope of selling a gas-powered small truck in the USA. This is the same reason that...
Who said anything about $20K?
$42.5K (price of Tesla M3) - $15K = $27.5K, which is the estimated price of the Slate without a rebate. My expectation is that the rebate is gone in the next year, so there's no point factoring that into the equation.
Without the rebate, the Tesla M3 is 55% more...
Giant asterisk on the first statement: Model 3 is under $35K today with federal tax credit.
Base price for a Model 3 right now is $42.5K , which is $15k more than the Slate's estimated base, which is 55% higher than Slate's estimated base price.
