The Gladiator system is stupid simple. It's just a couple of hooks that shorten the cable. Fits right in with the Slate KISS principal...I can't imagine they would miss that opportunity.
The plan is to get a campervan for future road trips and the Slate would be my around town commuter. If I don't get a Slate, I'll likely just get another 2-door Wrangler for bopping around town and the occasional trip to Moab/Sedona.
As a Jeep guy, I definitely prefer half doors over no doors for a few reasons. 1 - I have a place to rest my arm. 2 - If it looks like rain, I can put the half windows in. 3 - Still VERY good views when wheeling and 4 - I just like how they look better. Here is my old Wrangler. In my old age...
I've run a lot of different tires on my Jeeps and I always end up going back to KO2s. They last forever (over 60k miles on my current set), are great offroad, quiet on road for an all-terrain and relatively low weight (assuming the class C tires like I run). I'm in Arizona, so not a lot of...
You can place a reservation ($100) for the bike on the Verge website with an estimated delivery of Q1 2026. Since that is within the next few months, they better have a product to deliver shortly. I can't imagine that these are imaginary at this point.
My CJ5 had the manual 3 speed transmission. I'm sure I'm likely misremembering, but seems like it's top speed was about 55 mph...or at least that was how fast I was comfortable driving it.
That was my original thought as well, but then I decided this isn’t going to be my vehicle I take out wandering. I have a Jeep for that. This will be my buzz around town vehicle/commuter, but I still wanted something unique. Maybe a bit of 80s mini truck vibe.
I'm a Jeep guy and the only thing really competing with the Slate for my money would be a 2-door Wrangler. Unfortunately, you can't get the PHEV version in 2-door. Also interesting is that ordering a manual is $2500 MORE than the automatic.
Edit - I don't know what I was smoking...the manual is...
