I played around with some of the DJ Set starter they have but I've done the 90s deal with my 2000 Ranger Electric already, for the Slate, especially with the square body and grille I'm digging more of a 70s/80s two tone vibe.
Current truck:
Thinking something like this if go to a Slate:
I think it's just adding more structure, my company did that the past year, we had a CEO when we were less than 50 employees and a very flat reporting structure, once we hit near 50 the CEO changed roles more to marketing and such and our new CEO came in that was more business focused, along...
One thing of note, at max capacity the Slate factory can only build 140-150k trucks a year. Which funnily enough is how many reservations they have.
Now I'm sure they'd love to be that successful but don't think that's what they plan for the first few years. Assuming that's running 3...
Absolutely, thank you for the response, and it's a great point on the Ford platform, but I will say their first product off the line, be it more like the Maverick or more like a Ranchero, will be compared to the Slate, or the Slate will be compared to.
I'm reminded of when I worked at an oil...
I was going to reply in another thread, but this goes a bit long and don't want to take from that. The topic of the market is brought up frequently, and having lived through most of it and still having a small EV truck I'd like to review some points on the market for the Slate or other small...
I think my main concern will be the battery/charging. SK On is known, but we've seen other established makes like Hyundai and Ford, that use Sk On batteries, have issues with the batteries and charging.
Notoriously Hyundai with their still haven't resolved ICCU(integrated charger controller...
Our Honda Prologue will be going off lease in early 2028, and we will not be buying it out, as we're already seeing used ones 1 year in for less than our buyout in 2 years.
As for the plan at that time, It's just my wife and I, we briefly(about 8 months) had only EV cars and a motorcycle, but...
That'd be cool, an option for stepside would be nice, but looking at the frame I think the bed is needed structurally, especially with the battery weight under it, as the 'frame' isn't a full ladder frame there'd probably be some flex without it.
A 12v lead battery is better at keeping it's charge sitting around and like's being constantly charged vs more modern chemistries, also it's a really proven technology, and like for Slate, simpler and proven is better.
Funnily the old GM EV1 in the 90s had a switch that if your 12v battery...
I believe the Slate will have a 12v battery in the frunk so there's the constant 12v power feed. As for the antenna there's all kinds of aftermarket options on those.
I've seen this response before and I find it curious that for their whole 'make it yours' motto they'd respond like this...
Great pics! That's awesome that the event photo wasn't a render and the actual truck! Anyone that was there, could you tell if the grill pieces were 3d printed white or if they were wrapped white? We know the middle piece is swappable but if the side pieces are too I'm having thoughts of...
Anyone else getting creeped out by Ford continually quoting stats like this? They know no Mach-e drivers use the frunk, very few Maverick customers tow, most F350 drivers prefer Pabst to Bud, it’s starting to get a little too big brothery. Similar to Chevy getting caught selling Bolt driver...
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger electric, it has half the power and 1/3 the range of the Slate but it works fine. I debate updating its batteries or getting a Slate or just keeping it as is cause it does still work fine. I’ve got my reservation in but the Slate still has a lot of unknowns, we’ll see...
In my Chevy Volt and Bolt the shifter had a low gear that increased regen, on the Bolt it was 1 pedal driving, I always thought it’d be great if they tied that to the improved throttle response of “sport mode” so you could “down shift” and have engine braking and faster pickup. The Bolt’s...
I'm still thinking back to this peak from last year, the nose looks more pointed in the wind tunnel silhouette now, so seems like they're still fiddling with the design as the August front looks more Maverick style. If it looks like a Santa Cruz I think it'll be a dud. But, they did go through...
I’m wondering if plasti-dip may be a better option than a wrap if it’s only going to last a few years anyways. At least with dip you can do touch ups.
I think the rubber duck trend is just Jeeps, one of the reasons we were considering a Bronco a few years back instead of the Wrangler as we didn't want the hassle. If someone puts a duck on a non-Jeep like a Scout or Bronco I think they're confused.
I think it started around Covid, in...
I agree, also when the fleet truck hits the used market you can get it cheaper and still order all the accessories and wrap kit to make it yours.
If you follow them on linked in you’ll see for many of the public events they have a fleet day a couple of days before, so that is definitely part...
