The tangents this thread took were quite entertaining š
@Chapman, thanks for posting! I missed this interview. I agree with you, every new piece of info gets me more excited about the possibilities!
It really sounds like Chris Barman and team GET IT. Iām sure eventually weāll have to pay for...
As others have said, for me itās kind of all of the above. I plan to customize everything, especially if the community grows the way other car communities have in the past. Collectively, this forum as been a huge source of important conversations imo. If we have even more people testing...
I agree that Amazon has failed on plenty of products. It does seem Slate is intentionally distanced from Amazon. I also think as a product thatās so costly and as necessary for most Americans, weāre still not ready to buy vehicles on Amazon.
Slateās marketing and accessibility to in person...
My hope is that Slate puts in more effort than the Cybertruck. Those are all over around here and I havenāt seen a single one with proper fitting panels.
The 2 Slates from my video had better aligned panels. The wear and tear on the wraps and paint, though, thatās going to be a deciding factor...
Iām guessing that ArtCenter wrapped SUV is the same as this one from Monterey Car Week:
Wheel and tire package looks the same with the Fifteen52s, roof rack, black tint, etc.
Iāve yet to make it out that way for it but the Element community does a massive meetup every year not far from there.
If the Slate is customizable enough on the inside, I could see it filling a much needed gap in the market for Element owners wanting electric power.
Yeah, I would absolutely love to pick it up from the plant, visit some friends I have there, and make a roadtrip out of it. I hope they continue to tell the stories of the people bringing this to life.
Well said. I think the Slate appeals to a different type of consumer than most new vehicles. Iāve driven a 2008 Honda Element and 2022 Honda Ridgeline for years. Together, they give us everything we needā¦reliability, comfort, utility, etc. The Slate is the first vehicle that has the possibility...
My thoughts exactly.
Itās also difficult in photos and video to see it, but the wrap on the SUV was definitely to blame for the perception that panels were significantly off. Nothing was perfect, but the wrap job was noticeably average at best.
Hey all, new to the forum but thatās my video. Thank you to those who have checked it out.
To add some contextā¦
The wrapped SUV version was not a drivable prototype. The blank Slate was, but according to the people there, it was an early prototype.
You can see in the video that they use this...
