AND.... its still 4 doors, and I'm quite sure it has screens, infotainment and a bunch of other crap "technology" and power nonsense. I'll pass - indeed, I'm willing to pay MORE to not be saddled with the American auto market effeteness.
I've said for years now that what I want/need is a "60/60" EV. 60 real world miles at 60MPH. That would fit my use model quite nicely and I think it would be a fit for many others as well. The basic Slate more than meets that spec.
Exactly. More un-needed and unwanted stuff to break. Obsolete in 5 years, broken in 10, and unrepairable at any price in 15. And I'd have to deal with the nuisance of it all the entire time. Hard pass.
Its probably 4 doors too.
That's exactly right. A pickup truck needs a "single" or "standard" cab, not a glorified school bus. The Maverick has 4 doors and infotainment? Those are two major reasons NOT to buy one!
Ok, so they remove the radio - which I don't have a problem with as I seldom run sound of ANY kind in the car - but they still have all the wifi/BT/smartphone junk. Makes zero sense. Get rid of that nonsense and give me a radio or at least a DIN slot. But Tesla is Tesla, they'll never move away...
I don't even need a fob for that matter, "keyless" is yet another pseudo-feature that solves a problem nobody had. Only one of my 3 cars has a fob, and its a minor nuisance - but I'll take a fob over a smartphone any day of the week!
I'm with you. I'm interested in the Slate because it seems to be something WITHOUT "technology". I worked in High Tech my entire career, and feel that automobiles are NOT the place for computers of any kind. I refuse to pay for subscriptions of any type - Adobe can go pound sand for bringing it...
