  1. New specs & video on midsized Ford EV truck

InsideEVs has an interview with Alan Clarke (UEV project lead or some similar title). He says the LFP batteries are priced right but have the worst power density of all the alternatives. He strongly hints that they'll abandon LFP for a more power dense chemistry once one is available for a...
  2. Slate Price Annoucement Date! "Mid-twenties in late June" -- says Slate

I note that pricing on the Rivian R2 is expected on March 12. The company has said deliveries will start in June (I have heard one YouTube claim early deliveries starting April). So pricing will be announced 3 months before deliveries - that makes Slate look premature in announcing in June...
  3. Slate Price Annoucement Date! "Mid-twenties in late June" -- says Slate

I've not seen anything from Rivian saying any model of R3 will go into production in 2026. I have seen 2028 several times - and it will be built on the platform used for the R2, at the (still uncompleted) factory Rivian is building in Georgia. My guess is the base Blank Slate will be $27,499.
  4. Slate Price Annoucement Date! "Mid-twenties in late June" -- says Slate

You may as well ask for the deposit back now - the Slate will not be offered at $25k. At least not initially - if it flops then maybe they will - but will you want it? The Ford UEV will not be " the same price". "About $30,000" is more than the base Blank Slate (" mid twenties"). I fully...
  5. Update: Ford's EV 'Model T moment' Announced

I thought it was very interesting (given the battery Chem debate on this forum) that they went with LFP thinking that it is the least energy dense of the chemistry especially, and it is strongly implied that they will swap for a different chemistry (for future models) to achieve greater range...
  6. Early deliveries to be region based, with early reservations prioritized

I live in Tampa also, but happened to be in Denver when the Slate roadshow was there (early August). I asked about them coming to FL and was told then it would be in Q1 26 - so in my view they aren't late, and can still make that window that was discussed nearly 5 months ago. Do I wish it was...
  7. Will you be installing a Level 2 charger?

I stumbled over the text on the Slate website that made me think Level 2 was included: LEVEL 1 – HOUSEHOLD OUTLET Use the included Slate charging cable • No need to purchase extras • Adds 2 to 5 miles per hour of charge • Overnight charge adds 20 to 50 miles LEVEL 2 – APPLIANCE OUTLET Use...
  8. Plywood 4x8 fit / loaded into Slate truck bed (video)

5' truck bed combined with 8' plywood = less than 3' sticking out past the truck bed (and the rear bumper adds even more cushion). I'm taking your word on the "3 foot" requirement.
  9. What's the craziest modification you're actually considering for your slate

A tonneau cover, plus in bed LED lighting.
  10. Will you be installing a Level 2 charger?

The Slate website originally implied that both Level 1and Level 2 chargers were included ( actually, I think I was stated, but the site has changed). I had looked specifically for this, and at the time was surprised that Slate was going to give owners a Level 2 charger that their competitors...
  11. Slate announces Tesla supercharger access + 4,000 service / repair shops RepairPal partnership!

I saw this, and brought it up with a rep at a Slate to State event in Denver - he was clear in walking back the idea that it would be available. This was an August 1st event. He implied technical challenges in offering the capability. I'm still very interested in this, and will be watching for...
  12. Slate SUV kit (rear window open) on display in Sacramento

I've been looking for a latch for the rear window for a while - I'm 99% sure that at this point the Slate has NO LATCH to secure/lock the rear window while on the square SUV. I thought I saw this on a pic from the Sacramento event, but I can't find the pic. There are a number of pics that show...
  13. Happy 6-month anniversary

I was at the Denver event August 1st - a rep there told me Slate would be visiting Florida in Jan/Feb 2026. I look forward to seeing it again, and hope that maybe they'll bring something that is closer to the actual production trim.
