This! I don't really care what they look like, I just want to be able to adjust them without getting fingerprints all over the mirror glass. That would drive me nuts!
Just watched! Thought it was a good video and about what I was expecting. Definitely curious about the DIY warranty repair piece - seems like that could be challenging to implement, and/or costly for Slate. What if I have a problem with my truck, they mail me the components to fix it, but I...
Looks like I’m 884 miles from Warsaw, IN. In the Slate with the standard range battery, I’d need 9 charges (adding almost 5 hours to my trip) for the drive home to Rhode Island. I dunno, could be a fun adventure! Good crash course in life with an EV.
Looks like with the extended range battery...
Haha yes, that could be you!!
Theoretically, yes you can install it wherever you like. It's intended to be installed on the exterior of the vehicle, but I figured it would be less obstructed by rain and road crud inside my car, behind the back glass, and I've been happy with it. So yeah, you'd...
I'm probably not sharing a resource that this group doesn't already know about, but I just found some comfort from playing around with https://abetterrouteplanner.com/. Plugging in some frequent longer drives we take and getting a better sense for the time that would need to be spent charging is...
I fully agree with this. Properly adjusted mirrors are most important, and BSW is a useful safety feature to have on top of this. I don't think that lacking BSW would make the Slate a deal breaker for me, but what I'm struggling with the most after reading this whole thread is the old school...
I agree with you on Doug… More and more in his reviews, I find him out of touch with the reality of what most real car owners want. He’s already said that he doesn’t think the Slate will be successful because it doesn’t have 4 doors. And surely he’ll have a lot to say about the fact that it...
That jumped out at me, too. I could see myself using covers, taking them off for a while, popping them back on... The simple, clean look definitely appeals to me though.
There was another post on here that I was reading that talked about a "cargo pack" which sounds like it would basically be the SUV shell without the seats. I can't remember where that was, though.
Noted! Thanks for that info, that’s helpful. I wasn’t necessarily thinking of it in the context of making back my investment, but more generally that a future buyer could be unwilling to consider a used Slate with the standard battery pack.
I am not of the belief that all EVs need 250/300+ mile range. This is what people are used to from driving an ICE vehicle, and I think that's a big part of why this becomes the benchmark.
150 miles would be just fine for my needs... but I acknowledge that I would be able to setup the charging...
I'm not sure if the Q&A video was the first time the cost of the SUV kit was announced, or if that information has been out already and I missed it. But at about $5k, what are your thoughts?
I don't have an overwhelming preference between the truck and SUV body style - the SUV body is...
