$30K Ford Ranchero EV Pickup - News & Info

It's been a slow news day in the Slate world since 24 April, 2025....

Well, It is "HUMP" day

It doesn't make sense to me that the giga casting on the "ranchero" would be in the crumple zone. Having something solid at the ends of the vehicle crushes things in the middle. That should rule out a 12mph vehicle total. Of course in this day and age, structural damage doesn't seem to be needed for beyond economical repair.

A recall of just 4,653 vehicles over two completely different chassis types built in two different factories in two different countries over a combined 11 model years makes Ford greedy bastards? Huh?

Sounds like Ford's control arm supplier has a quality control problem.

Ford has always strived to be No. !. Last year they had something like 152 recalls. They are definitely still No.1.

People can bash Ford all they want, but I like my Bronco a whole lot; just like I've loved the other 7 Fords I've owned since 1978. I just ran the Bronco from Central Virginia to western West Virginia (Ohio border) over this past weekend, basically straight over via Appalachian Highway System. It pulled 21.2 MPG overall and ran flawlessly at boost pressures north of 14 psi. It's a great truck. I have a 2-door hardtop.

I bought it new in 2022 for $39K. KBB says the current value is $37,190 at 18,000 miles used, four years later. So, LOL at anyone who has issue with Fords.

I've never had any major problems with Fords. I'm on my 5th Mustang and combined they had fewer trips to a garage than my wife's or her mother's Hondas. Those were money pits, with electrical problems no one could fix. When I took my Mustang on a 375-mile (one way) trip to Key West, I got up to 29 MPG on the 5.0 V8.

Based on the Blue Book value, it will mostly pay for my Slate.

Hondas used to be more reliable, then they weren’t. Hyundai’s used to be really unreliable, now they are. American cars have been hit or miss as long as I can recall. I understand why everybody raves about Toyotas.

All my Fords have been solid, three rangers, five mustangs and will get a hybrid Bronco to replace the Jeep. My 2014 gt500 is worth more than I paid for it new in 2013

the Slate is going to be a nice truck to have around town. The Bronco for long haul and the Shelby for grins.

Funny enough, I got the Jeep on a whim. I wanted to stop putting miles on my daily driver (03 Cobra) and it was a $32k 2008 marked down to $24k in March 2009. Came with the lifetime limited warranty. Still have it and they keep offering to buy it from me. In fact, I remember after driving it four years and 30k miles I was going to trade it in for the Shelby and they offered 23,500. Not a bad truck — would have rather had a Bronco.

I’ve been following this and vehicle pricing is estimated to be $1-1.4K higher because of the shortage. Analysts think memory will stabilize between 2028 and 2030.

I had a '95 YJ Wrangler for 12 years. Barebones. It was loud, proud, and meant business.

I think the whole project exists just to generate press releases.
