All those camouflage covers are doing their job. There's some trickery going on here, including the window lines on the doors, maybe even the door handles.

They've done a better job than most in disguising it. Hopefully the engineers are at least as good as the camo crew!

My first thought. Those door handles are fake. The windowsills are much lower than the top end of the camo. You can see where they really are if you look closely. Top of the bed is also lower and lines up with the windowsills.

Looks like by extrapolating the known size of the tires to the overall length of the vehicle that it is approximately 20 inches longer than a Slate. Great that it is smaller in overall length then the Maverick but I prefer the single cab, plastic paneled Slate footprint.

I have zero interest in the Ford offering, so I have no skin in this game. That said, 20" longer makes it hard to fit into my garage without clearing out the junk essential storage items I have in front my current vehicle on my side of the garage.
The bikes would need a ceiling mounted solution for sure...

EDIT: Never mind. My current vehicle is nearly 10" longer than the slate, so it would be fine. Just need to be a little more careful not to damage that ... stuff in front of my car.

Based on my experience, a garage is never big enough; you will always find something to fill any extra space (+10%) regardless of size.

I’ld say it more likely than not. For sure before the window closes on preorders.

Ford, GM, and Stelantis (Chrysler) have all demonstrated that they don’t really grasp the EV market with the exception of the Bolt which, being a clear Detroit winner, Chevy immediately pulled it off the market, brought it back, and is rumored to be ‘re-purposing’ the factory where it is built.

The track record of the so-called ‘Big Three’ in EV tech is abysmal. The advantage of Slate comes from being designed EV from the ground up (drag efficients notwithstanding), modular (think the ‘3’ would let you redesign their vehicles?), and low cost simple. Unless the 3 figure that the original Ford was right — simple affordable vehicles for the masses — they won’t match Slate unless it hits and hits big.

Case in point — Slate coming in around mid $20k, Ford already announced to be ‘right at’ $30k. How many people, I wonder, have ever found a vehicle manufactured by Detroit that was actually at the lowest advertised price? So my guess is after the add-ons it’ll be more mid $35k at least. Usually you, the consumer, gets little say in what appears on the lot but, with Slate, you begin with an empty palate and you can build from there and end up with a tricked out truck/suv if you want. Of course that’ll run you a bit more than the mid 20s.

I'd personally say 0%. Ford continues to leak little videos from now till the Detroit Auto Show. And somehow, "spy videographers" just keep "accidentally" catching the Ford in the most interesting situations. Keep the tease going.

I just don't get the narrative that's so popular on this site that other OEMs are trying steal Slate sales. It's like arguing that a steamroller is afraid of an ant. What are you guys smoking? I want to try some of that.

I dont think Ford is necessarily scared of slate, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't do some defensive posturing. Slate has 160,000 pre-orders which is roughly the yearly sales of a Maverick. Clearly not all of those will purchase, but the thought may be unsettling to the blue oval. Remember, they weren't scared of Tesla either.

Personally I dont get it, I dont think the "Ranchero" is going to be at all similar to the Slate other than that they are both EV'S with a bed. I expect more significant leaks from Ford to try and lower the conversions for Slate.
