4k total weight rating, exactly. Many states require trailer brakes at 3k GVWR.

GVWR of 3000 lbs. I can see why one might want breaks when hauling 3000 lbs.

I just looked on their website. The electric brakes are actually optional. They come standard with no brakes.

When I ordered it did add the brakes on both axels ($500) and the paper work from them rates it at 4K#, have had mine for 10+ years, they have sense then down graded all the specs. I put my JD 1016r on it with back hoe & bucket with no issue. Also have a Aluma 7x16 inclosed trailer that they no longer make (mines 7.5x16) it is 1750# on certified scale could move it with the slate but only empty. Aluminum trailers are nice but EXTRA $$

The trailer hitch does include wiring so you won't need to source that separately.

That was a reply from Slate today (surprised to see one on Sunday, must be working overtime). For the $100 price that is a one HELL of a great deal. I paid more for the factory towing and factory wiring kits that I installed on my 2004 Toyota Tacoma over twenty years ago! I'd happy to do that installation on my Slate.

Topcat K4X. The boat is 250#, the trailer is 250#, and I have a box on the trailer with some additional gear for the final 100#.
