I just put the zip into the repairpal site.
Not all Repair Pal locations will be Slate certified. I believe each shop has to individually sign up and go through some specific training program.

Depends on what level of repair they will be doing. For general stuff it will be very basic and short. For those who certify for HV stuff, of course it will be more, but those will be shops already doing HV stuff.
And no shops are listed for Slate yet, and probably won't until it's a lot closer. If anyone visits a shop that does repairpal, ask if they have heard of Slate.

Hey y'all. To answer the original question, I'm all in. Timing is good for me, I need to replace my car this year anyway. I can afford a $300 risk. I've had opportunity to touch a Slate. I love the minimalist product Slate making. I fix my own stuff, the fewer things to break the better. I can live without the flash and added cost of modern vehicles. Not for nostalgia, for affordability.
Anyway, even if the initial conversion rate appears low, it gives Slate the momentum and money to keep moving forward. Thinking about any new product, there's a kind of bell curve of purchase behavior. Inital sales are low, to early adoptors, willing to take a risk on new, unproven product. Sales grow as people get opportunity to experience and evaluate the product. If it proves to be a great product, priced attractively, sales grow a lot. If it's a dud or launch is handled poorly, sales don't grow. What I've seen so far looks totally normal and promising Slate.
Keep it Simple Slate 😘💋

If they keep pricing for the base truck under $30k, then I'm in.
I think it is completely dependent on the price. If the 6/24 price is $19,999 then I’d bet they are going to convert a lot of reservations to pre-orders. If it is $29,999 the the conversion late will be way lower.
I think it is going to matter the most if they can let us see and drive one, and final price.
Once prices are known 6/24 those that haven’t will start having to seriously look at what total cost will. For instance if my Blank Slate is $25k, that will be at least $29k to get it in my driveway.
Keep it under 30k and I think most early deposit holders would continue.
Price, price, price! The peanut gallery has voted, and Chris Barman appears to be keenly aware of this and has repeatedly said so in interviews.

A Slate truck has more appeal to me as an SUV for the versatility. If I need to carry passengers, there's the back seat. If I need to carry cargo, the back seat can (presumably) be removed. If I need to carry something tall, the SUV cap and 'roll cage' can (presumably) also be removed.

It would be cool if Slate gives a discount to those who order the SUV kit (and other accessories) when placing an order for the truck. Not sure if this speculation has been brought up or discussed here on the forum. Just a hope and a wish...

yeah, I get your point. If it were just tooling around town I wouldn’t think twice about it. But I’ve got a 45 min commute to work each way, which can stretch to 1.5 hours in heavy traffic. That’s actually where the ACC excels… in traffic. I can set it and know that I’ll be moving forward and stopping smoothly, which is far less draining on me in my commute. I’d love to see this included as an add on for Slate. It would seal the deal.
Don't get your hopes up. ACC adds a whole bunch of engineering, hardware, integration, with more software. Plus more liability (legal) cost.

All outside the Slate ethos.

I'm all in for putting in the $$ on the 24th. My self-imposed benching from the forum is over since (most) of the trolls are now gone and more importantly ....the product launch is getting real in only a few weeks. Now we will begin to see helpful advice and viewpoints that are meaningful on the forum. Here's one for those who might be replacing an older vehicle (like me) with a Slate. $300 is just another of the endless repair fees I'm having on the Honda. Ignition coils, EVAP parts, liftgate service, AC concerns. I'm chaulking up my deposit fee as a hedge. I fully expect early Slates to have glitches and issues. But I will carefully watch on this forum how things are handled by Slate. If the rollout is a disaster, I will bail before the big bucks are due. But I doubt that.
IF (BIG IF) other manufacturers do put out EV's at 30K that have amenities I neither need or want I won't look back. More options and accessories....more to go wrong. I'm big on not having to wait for things to be repaired which is why I do what I can myself. Looking forward to the pricing in stone and the thoughts of posters on the how/why of accessory choices.

I just spent $800 on my 2001 Monte Carlo, When I get the Slate that will go to my son. His problem then. Who knows how many years the old girl has left.

From one old goat to OldGoat: I completely agree. This is where I am at. My Honda's A/C is so marginal this year, but I'm letting it ride, not even refilling it. (Spare me, I know I may toast the compressor.) There's my $300.

I'm also going to bet that when they roll out the promised test drives (Slate, hello?), preorder holders are going to be ahead of reservation holders. There's going to be a lot of demand for those drives, should they ever materialize.

I am of a like mindset. If I bail for whatever reason, I will have contributed to the EV evolution in the US. 300$ is a small price to pay for moving our technology forward.

That said by a 70 year old computer software engineer who started when punch cards and ticker tape was state of the art. 🖖

Another consideration is the spread from my window to the non-reservation holder window.(I am a day 2 reservation holder). If my window is Q1-2027 and a non-reservation holder is Q1-2028 I am more likely to pull the trigger than if my window is Q1-2028 and a non-reservation holder is Q2-2028.

I am doubting they will publish all the data on where everyone's windows are. We probably need that data collected here if anyone's going to factor that into their decision. Have people enter there reservation date and window.

I'll chime in with my assumptions... I predict something like a 40% conversion rate from reservation to pre-order, but I'm also predicting a drop-off from pre-order to actual purchase, likely another 40%. In other words, not everybody who pre-orders will actually buy (for eg, many who pre-order will refuse to purchase until they can test drive and so will miss their window). So from reservation to purchase will likely be in the 15% range.

Also, I'm thinking that the delivery windows will all be in the range of Q4-2026 to X (so some will be told Q4/26-Q1/27, others told Q4/26-Q2/27). Nobody said that all windows will be the same size and making later windows bigger will allow for shifting things if drop-off is different than predicted.

The big question in my mind is the purchase to production ratio. They have said they expect the maximum production volume to be 150k/year out of the plant, but I seriously doubt they will do those numbers during the first four quarters. I'll be surprised if Q4-2026 pumps out more than 5k. I'm guessing 10k for Q1-2027. These assumptions (15% conversion and 30% production capacity average over the first three quarters) means pre-order purchases will see delivery by June of next year. As a day 3 holder, I expect my truck will show up March or April.

But frankly, my guess is as good as AI's...
