My plan was to wait for Slate to be out for a while before buying, to give them a chance to get the bugs out. But the wife is even more enthusiastic about getting one than me, so we put in a reservation this morning. Will we convert? Well... more conversations need to be had.

I think the only thing that would make me regret buying a Slate, other than suddenly needing $25k shortly afterwards due to some other event, would be if there is some major flaw that nobody discovers until it's too late. Like all the batteries fail at 5000 miles and the company goes under. But I'm fortunate enough that even if that happens I won't starve. So that mitigates my need for a test drive; I know it will drive differently, I know it's a different size than my current car, and I can adjust.

I guess (hopefully this isn't blasphemy) Telo selling a $20k model might also make me regret buying a Slate. But that's unlikely. :)
Since you just put in a reservation, your delivery date will be back of pack. If you pre-order, you will probably have a long time to see how the initial roll out goes before you have to finalize the sale. So maybe only out $300.

I'm a Feb 26 reservation and I expect to probably be in the back too.

We'll know a lot more in 4 days when everyone starts sharing their windows. I'm curious to see just how far out these windows will be.

Telo is like $54K loaded, right? Where you getting $20K? (I don't even think you can pull into their parking lot (when it is functional) for $20K?)

I'm seeing car loan rates as low as 4.33% for well qualified buyers... If I can get under 5%, I'll be borrowing with maybe a $5k down payment. I'll keep the rest of the money in investments.
That's smart if you have the cash and are sure you can make the margin (Let's say 12% - 4% taxes = 8% net investment margin - 5% loan and you are 3% in the money!)

I had to sell my 2006 Canyon and 2007 Solstice to get me a down payment to where I can pay the same payment I am paying on My Equinox EV. Only way I can afford one.
