Accessory Question - Tire Carrier

I have been quite happy with the Renn Stand. Mine is getting close to 8 years old and has worked great. I would be a little leery of the ones above in those links. Look at the number of 1 star reviews on that stand. With people having teeth break on the 1st use. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

I just pulled one, basically at random, that had similar features. Again, theres a bunch of brands and models, just like any jack stand. They dont own a patent on the general design and didnt invent it. I'm only pointing it out for people that cant afford or wouldnt buy a $400+ jack stand.

They do have a patent on this design. The price is $199 for a single. That is what I have. Though I think it was $150 or $180 when I bought it.

But plugs, patches, and rotations are free. You know, “free”. Built into the purchase price. I’ve been going to Discount Tire for ever so the “free” I have paid for. I will say the road hazard replacement certificate paid for itself several times. Especially on my wife’s Audio. Low profile Continental sports car tires don’t like curbs. My wife is kind of fond of curbs. I’m pretty certain at $50 a pop for the certificate. I had five or six tires replaced. Lol a lot cheaper than the $350-$400 per tire without it.

I don’t care for their add on prices. You start out with a $800 set of tires that end up being $1000 before you are finished with their add ons. That isn’t including tax or state fees.
Dang she must hit those curbs hard. I’ve never had one pop due to hitting a curb on any tire, low profile or not.

I don't know what the jacking points are gonna look like on the Slate, but the U shaped floor jack that works with a convention jack stand saddle I would be afraid to use on a Tesla. You would end up with the hockey puck balanced on the cast steel saddle where it would want to slip off the saddle. Worst case scenario you drop the car, best case scenario you end up having that saddle slip off and puncture the battery box.

The ones I have slip over the top, like a cuff. the only way they could fall off is if they were lifted up off the stand's head, which would require the car to come off first. It's more likely the whole thing would get pushed over, but that would be the same case with really any design.

Ive got a 2 post slated for when I rebuild the garage. I had one before and I miss it. Aside from the current garage just needing to be replaced, its only a 4" pour so the pad cant take a good lift.

Spare tire and wheel in the bed with a tiedown. $250 solution.

I might be rethinking my "hey cool, look at me, I have a spare tire on my bumper" approach. I liked the look of it and that it would swing out of the way when loading truck....but it is a parachute from a drag perspective and wouldn't be if somehow added in the bed.

Love it. Growing up as the son of a mechanic, it's interesting what "essential equipment" we take for granted! Current HOA situation won't allow for this, sadly.

Ive got a 2 post slated for when I rebuild the garage. I had one before and I miss it. Aside from the current garage just needing to be replaced, its only a 4" pour so the pad cant take a good lift.

I've got 2 of those lifrs and the great thing about that lift is it runs off of 110v and you can put the casters on it and roll it out of the way when you need to clean up messes or make a change. They also don't get permanently bolted into the concrete and don't need an extra thick pad.
With the associated bridge jacks they are slightly more expensive than a two post but a lot cheaper than redoing your concrete.

Also f*** HOAs. I get the idea, but what an absolute PITA. I always avoid them when I can.

No, they have a patent on the system. I'd wager the patent itself probably just covers the method wherein you load the top part onto a jack before adding the legs after you get it to the right height.

The general design has been around for a very long time.
