Accessory Question - Tire Carrier

I might be rethinking my "hey cool, look at me, I have a spare tire on my bumper" approach. I liked the look of it and that it would swing out of the way when loading truck....but it is a parachute from a drag perspective and wouldn't be if somehow added in the bed.

Love it. Growing up as the son of a mechanic, it's interesting what "essential equipment" we take for granted! Current HOA situation won't allow for this, sadly.

I like the look but it messes with the loading of long items you have to leave the tailgate down for.

The tire mount does look cool but laying the spare flat in the bed works too.

I don’t care for their add on prices. You start out with a $800 set of tires that end up being $1000 before you are finished with their add ons. That isn’t including tax or state fees.
Dang she must hit those curbs hard. I’ve never had one pop due to hitting a curb on any tire, low profile or not.

I have found if you are buying a complete set of 4 tires they will throw in one certificate sometimes 2. That’s about the only cost savings I have been able to get.

I hear you, brother. I do. My wife LIKES our neighbors a lot, as it turns out. I need to get another kid or 3 out of school so that I can get to a gentleman's farm with proper equipment.

Yeah, I naturally gravitate to fun cars. Neither Rogue nor Juke fit that bill for me. I gave my wife's Rav4 to my kid rather than drive it. Although I did drive a Rav4 prime last year. Big improvement, but still a no for me.

Yeah, I naturally gravitate to fun cars. Neither Rogue nor Juke fit that bill for me. I gave my wife's Rav4 to my kid rather than drive it. Although I did drive a Rav4 prime last year. Big improvement, but still a no for me.

I had a short interest in a Juke when I found out they made a NISMO version. No idea if it was actually worthy of the label or just another trim-money grab.

On the jacks front, I have a Quickjack 6000TL, which is able to lift my MachE, Prius and Tacoma. Hopefully it will work on the Slate as well, though I suspect it will given the wheelbase.

It is very portable, slides under my workbench when I'm not using it, and the 24" of rise is great compared to traditional jack stands that either don't get that high, or are very scary when that high.

I switched my mini back to run flats and my wife immediately complained about how much rougher it rode; its pretty noticeable. But id say thats both the weight as well as the sidewalls allowing for less flex, so less cushioning. It's not going to do your milage any favors, either.

How much do you consider a lot?

5 to 10 pounds per tire. That is the average weight the run flats are over conventional tires.
One of those tire sealant and inflator kits would be a better option.
