Rationally, it is idiocy to be an early adopter.
But, I realllyyyyy like the ethos of Slate, so I'm in.
When I read this post I realized that I want to be an early adopter because the Slate design team gave this product a unique, very-non-corporate-like, soul. It's an opportunity to own a classic piece of automotive history and help the company hit the ground running.

I'd like to see a special edition "Tisha Johnson Signature Panel" DIY accessory option as a way to honor the Slate design team's achievement.

To keep it fair, this shouldn't be a random lottery or a tiny limited run that gets scalped. Instead, it should be a time-bound exclusive: available only to those who submitted a pre-order during the initial launch window that started on June 24, 2026, AND ultimately finalize their order for a Slate Truck.

It would serve as a "thank you" to early adopters backing the design team's vision as well as a way to display appreciation for their achievement.

Who else would buy one?

You sure about that? Kind of the same thing, really.

Plus, it would get scanned, uploaded, and printed, so then you lose your bragging rights or whatever.

I know this sounds underwhelming, but I’m a fan of a simple thank you note. If signed by the design team and left to discover in the glove box, that would put a smile on my face.

Only if it is signed. My brother bought one of the first McIntosh (Mac) computers back in the day and the engineers had signed the inside of the case. Talk about cool! I used it in college as a glorified word processor (bc Al Gore had not quite invented the internet yet), but made sure he got it back.

If anything, I'd happily pay extra for a true "signature" thank you wrap. Possibly still in the 'Slate Gray' color but with the employees signatures or little messages in that white marker/pen look. Could be pretty simple since they'd theoretically just have to sign one or two trucks and scan it, or just digitally add their messages/signatures for someone to photoshop a collage then print onto a wrap. Would be a pretty cool way to support the company and feel a more personable connection with the team.

What are y'alls thoughts.

If something like that were truly limited, it would be cool. Otherwise, kind of bougie? Using the Mac example above, maybe they could sign the inside of the "glove box" or something? I like your idea.

Excellent point - pretty much everything on the truck that's visible is intentionally subject to replacement with independently sourced products, clones, etc. Maybe the letter in the glove box for the early adopters is the best option.

know this sounds underwhelming, but I’m a fan of a simple thank you note. If signed by the design team and left to discover in the glove box, that would put a smile on my face.

That's even better than my idea of a wrap or something that is intended to be replaceable over time. A simple letter or card feels far more personal and heartfelt, even if the early adopters all got the same thing, just hand signed by any of the workers. That reminds me of when I did car sales for a short stint. Gave a thank you card to the buyers from a stack I bought and even if they had a bad experience with the dealership, they brought back family because they felt like it was a personal experience. Honestly, I'm still thrilled at how available the Slate team is to chat when we reach out, even if they're still super tight lipped on details, lol.

Dashboard switchable panels with Patina/rust/ leather / vinyl or color match to body panel wraps and even retro dummy clusters/knobs/switches would be cool and tie in that vintage truck aesthetic .....gas and oil gauges at zero with cracked glass/plastic and a cobweb would be funny
