Maybe Slate
Carvana also has their reconditioning shops, that would do "delivery partner" installations, along with the space to do this in.

The answer about carvana in the AMA seemed to be pretty emphatically "NO" so I have to think they aren't part of the mix. That doesn't mean some other chain car dealers wouldn't be, especially if the plan is for Slate to send someone in a Slate shirt and is just renting lot space.

I interpreted it as him ignoring the Carvana part. He never said "NO". Whomever their "logistics partner" is, it is clearly a closely guarded secret with an NDA based on a severe penalty. He can't say much, just "directly to customers" which Carvana and others do. Also remember the DriveTime and Carvana connection. It is very similar to Re:Build and Slate's relationship. It wouldn't surprise me if DriveTime was part of this, maybe both companies depending on location.

Not factory delivery but a minor road trip is possible. I won't pay for delivery to my door, so we'll see where the distribution center is. I may need to recharge once during the trip home.

Difference of opinions.
I see no world in which shop owners want to be in the delivery business. Signing up to do warranty repairs or equipment installs is one thing; being the physical face to turn the keys over, for the first time, to a buyer spending 30-40k is something quite different.

I'll readily admit I was wrong, if it turns out to be the case. I was wrong about the destination fee, I was wrong about SK as battery supplier. I just cant see the Precison Tune shops near me (RP members) being a realistic point of delivery.
No offense to small automotive repair shop businesses, but from most of the ones I've seen there is no way I'd want to pick up my brand new truck from such an establishment. Just saying.

good old, "avoid highways" 😁

I let Google take me on single-track gravel thru fields of corn from Wichita to Shawnee, OK and also thru the woods from Atlanta to Birmingham.

I drive in hours, not miles. 90 mins driving followed by 30 mins charging (45 if there's something especially cool in walking distance from the charger)

I was a serious long distance bicycle tourist and tour leader. Adventure Cycling has an awesome route map system across the country. All of the roads are chosen to be as safe as possible for slower vehicles people not in a huge hurry to "get there". The additional info for food, stores, campgrounds, hotels etc... is exceptional and has been built and curated over 50+ years. I would use the route planner there and just self-detour around the sections that are bike/pedestrian only.

So what do we think?
Order a Slate with a number of accessories to be added by RP.
A: Slate delivers to destination point, owner makes arrangements for home delivery or picks up, owner delivers to RP for accessory install.
OR
B: Slate delivers to destination point, Slate delivers to RP for accessory install. Owner picks up from RP.
OR
I will guess A, since Slate does not know when you will use the repair shop and which repair shop you will use

There is definitely something to be said for the amless wandering road trip. It's fun to just explore with no final destination once in a while.

On the other hand, that idea landed me in Cabrini-Green in 1995. Young Caucasian boys in a shiny black 944 germanshitbox, in a very poor neighborhood that did not want them there.

I have started using Google maps to see the logistics of picking up my Slate at the factory. I have never had an EV before. It would be a great EV 101 course to get from there to Northern Maine. I love logistics and planning so this challenge is putting down roots in my brain. As a former long distance bicycle tourist and tour leader , using the established bike routes and facilities would make this fun. The 150 mile comfort range in the Slate is about double the average day on a bike tour so the logistics would work out nicely....Am I alone in this endeavor?
I would love this if it meant no delivery charge, but that's not the case, you'll pay $1500 at the factory, or your front door
