I'm thinking I may order only the blank Slate and then order the tonneau cover, tailgate lock, floor mats and tow hitch receiver soon afterward. This would result in lowest registration and annual renewal fees. The question is how long the wait to receive the accessories. I could also order these things third party if I had to.

Mostly not price oriented. Mostly? Things I am pretty sure I can (want) to install myself have been taken off and put on "save for later". Things I don't want to deal with? I'm willing to pay the install.

I kinda like the idea of starting with a Blank Slate and having it "evolve in my driveway" as accessories are added over time.

So much depends on final cost. I like the base truck. I could be happy with that with just a few add-ons to make it more practical as a work truck: like a tow hitch and tie downs or tracks and tower racks, for instance.

Then again, the square-back SUV appeals to me as well. It would be like having a cheap RWD electric 2-door Bronco. Cool! But at what cost? Does the $5000 over the truck cost include everything needed for the SUV, or is the roll-cage / seat accessory a necessary but not included extra? For how much extra? Slate told me that the SUV price does NOT include installation, but they have not decided what installation will cost. Nor have they hinted at shipping costs and methods if the "kits" are purchased uninstalled.

I know, I know. Be more patient. Just wait till they announce these things. Kind of takes the shine off the "make it your own" mantra until they get around to these little details, like what the actual cost of an SUV is. (Bitch, bitch, bitch. Sorry!)

With two weeks to look, I'm thinking that a few things would be nice to have out of the gate:

• B-pillar T-rails. That's usually a useless corner in a 2-door truck.
• Frunk carpet floor mat. Mostly to prevent things from rattling around.

You are so right. I just read that change in the Maker and was coming back to amend my gripe.

They never did reply to my e-mail three days ago asking that same question.

More news: the Open Air kit is now listed as an accessory only for the blank Slate truck, (it is already included in the SUV packages, as you pointed out), though still no price.

They also fixed the bug that did not do a full roof wrap for the SUV.

I've dropped a few of the options that I don't really need immediately. Keeping things basic with the fastback SUV layout, two partial wraps to get the color scheme I want, and the spare tire carrier. Anything else will be added on later once I've spent some time in the car to decide what I actually need.

If USPS I get to pickup at PO. if FedEx or UPS they deliver to house. If anyone else I’ll likely pick up at port or shipper. Really anxious to start seeing stuff in Slate U.

I'm adding and subtracting now daily - since the Maker is being updated a LOT. submitted 2 change requests to the Thread just today. I have 3 designs - latest with the CRAYOLA colors. And yes - subtracting OR SAVE FOR LATER becomes necessary - depending on total costs. This is the FUN STAGE though - design work. so many options and details to consider-a whole new way to plan for a new car!

me too! Wishing there will be at least weekly SLATE U releases on video - there are still so many questions on some of the options to choose from. SLATE U could start to fill in some answers.
