If the cargo kit requires the bulkhead partition it will screw up my plans.

There's "required by the manufacturer" because of safety laws or whatever. Then there's mechanical requirements.

We can only count on Slate to give us the first. We find out the second once they start shipping.

I'm also thinking along the same lines about a cargo camper. I'd go as far to remove the passenger seat for the room on an extended trip.

If you pack for car camping anything like I do, while driving, there will be a cooler and some totes and a backpack and a tackle box and a whole bunch of other, well, cargo in the cargo area when you finally have to drive home. You do *not* want that stuff rocketing towards the back of your headrest in an emergency braking situation or (heaven forbid) a rollover collision. This would be even worse in a delivery vehicle, someone shared an AI edit of a Napa Auto Parts delivery vehicle... can you imagine a whole van full of batteries, oil, brake rotors, shocks, and so on coming at a driver who got in a collision on his way to bring supplies to a mechanic?

You simply don't want cargo to be able to get to the passenger area at all. A sliding door that lets you get temporary access at the customer or lets your feet pass through while camping is great! A giant open volume full of hazardous stuff is not great.

If not a simple and tool free conversion to no partition or reinstalling maybe Slate or some aftermarket 3rd party kit will become available. Design challenge. Something that can collapse, fold down to fit in the frunk. Yet still be strong enough to keep things in the cargo bay. Maybe just a heavy duty dense weave, minimal stretching "cargo net"?

Another concern I have about the Cargo Kit without a more or less solid bulkhead is winter season heating. Guessing heater output required to heat the whole space vs. just the driver/passenger compartment would be significantly greater. How many additional kwh/ miles would be used at even moderately cold (14F/-10C) temps?

I'm planning on a heavy cargo net. It may not be perfect but a cab window isn't stopping the projectile NAPA brake disc either.

A Lexan window might work, but a cargo net will definitely do the job.

The rollbar must be installed for the rear seat. I see any non Slate video as conjecture unless someone from Slate is standing alongside to confirm. Slate has already stated multiple times the rollbar will NOT be necessary in cargo kit, but people just refuse to accept.

You're not wrong about the rollbar being required for the rear seat, nor are you wrong to take most non-Slate videos as conjecture, but I make an exception for the Munro videos.

Slate was standing alongside in those anyways, the better to absorb the engineering aura and get ROI from their prodigious consulting fees!

I never said the roll bar would be necessary in the cargo kit. I said that as far as I know (I can't find the reference, but I'll continue looking), either the roll bar or the bulkhead must be installed for structural rigidity. So the cargo kit without the roll bar would require the bulkhead. You can't go without both.

I might be remembering wrong as well. I went ahead and sent the question to Slate. I will post the answer here when I get it.
