I'm a little confused about the whole center console thing. Some pictures (1st Pic) show what I would call a basic center console and then there is the optional center console with an arm rest (pic2) for $250. So am I safe to assume that all slates will come with a basic console or are you getting no console at all IE bare carpet?

Also looking at the optional center console (pic 2) the area in front of the armrest where you would place your drinks doesn't look all that cup friendly. What's up with that ??? I wonder if that is where you would put yet another optional drink holder for more $$$ that is yet to be announced.

Lastly there is the optional armrest which I think is the sarme

armrest that comes with the optional center console, but you can get it in another color.

So what do you all think?

yes, you do get a "basic center console" on all Slates. not sure it looks exactly like your first image (not sure where you go that), I didn't think it arcs upwards towards the dash. But every image / video in many recent months, along with the various public city showing has a low console with a very clear, rather unique cup holder arrangement.

the $249 optional console gives you the armrest, a presumed storage cubby, and possibly, though not guaranteed - rearward facing hvac vents and USB-C ports for the rear passengers in SUV configuration. I personally find that odd to add that into a single cab config, but who knows....

to revise my last response after checking the rendered Slate Maker image - the basic console does have the upward arc, but your image doesn't seem to have the cupholders where I expected to see them...

edit: I just read your cupholder questions. Yes, both the default and the upgraded console absolutely will have usable cupholders. The design is just a clever, simple design that's meant to secure different size cups.

The console armrest and the door armrest come out of the same mold. They come in different colors. That's about it.

this is a bit oversimplified; the "same mold" thing is a just the outer, colored shell. there is a structural door pull and a distinct raised center box under and behind these colored pieces.

I'm ordering the console with the arm rest and getting the door arm-rests as well. I can't wait for years from now when I wear out the center console and can just swap it with the 99% untouched passenger door one!

So, the door arm rests don't come as standard equipment? You have to order them extra? I've never seen a picture of the door without an arm rest. Slate is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get.

I'm not so sure about that. I think the door armrests are just the outside color panel? Perhaps it is my turn to contact them and ask. Their maker "details" are lacking.

I didn't contact them. I just pulled up the Redline Review video. His video is probably the best one that just scans everything about the Blank Slate. You can see the default low center console, and those door armrests. He uses it to yank the door closed. Without it, you'd have to pull on the window handle or something.

Time stamped video starting at a look at the interior. Watch for a few minutes and he gives a really good view of the low default console too:

The door arm rests 100% are standard equipment. It is literally the door pull.
it is merely a thin "skin" that can be replaced in order to trim it as a different color (then the default light gray).

This "skin" is what is also the identical piece as what makes up the top surface of the optional center console/armrest.

So - you get door armrests standard, but no center arrmrest without adding the $249 center console/arrmrest. Its pretty clear in the Maker.
