They already had a great name with the Ranchero. And they really messed up with naming their Mach E - EV as a Mustang. Why not bring back the Edsel? Apparently Ford needs a better marketing team.

I can't fathom why their calling it that. Sorry. I wish them good luck with it, to me it looks like it should appeal to a lot of people. It has to many doors and touchscreens for me,but, just what a lot of people want. They should thank slate for getting it.

Ford is clearly feeling some heat. Slate should feel flattered. At the same time, this is a competitive threat. Make no mistake about it. As to how much of a threat, we'll see. The real price matters, as does the initial quality of both vehicles. Ford has had, uh, issues. Slate has no history so we don't know.

Not a snowballs chance in hell it won't come with $5k+ dealer mark up. The Maverick and Maverick Hybrid had them on initial release. Dealers can't resist free-money.

I really like the name Ranchero, and it was going to make it difficult to hate on.

Also, not using the name "Maverick" when it's already currently a beloved small truck means that it's going to be a very different size than the Maverick, or they're not sure if it's going to flop and they don't want to harm ICE Mav sales.

Last note, is this Ford going back to trying to name all their vehicles something starting with "F"?

I am with you. Has features I have no desire to have. I am a Ford guy, but they can keep the Fanthom.
